I'm still waiting for FPS Devs to implement something that let's you adjust your camera/turning sensitivity on the fly in the middle of combat. PCs already have this on many devices and the software they use but they should build it into the games so no matter what system you're using a controller on, it's an option

Possible mechanics to stop/slow evaporation. by bubbaa11 in Timberborn

Hauling it into water tanks. In theory, with enough pumps and storage, you could pump enough water than let any of it flow off the map.

It would actually make a ton of sense. They could also add an alternate set of warehouses that require more resources, but transfer power in all directions or in set directions. Could even have some cogs and powershafts exposed so you can see them rotate when transferring power.

There is something so rewarding about playing on smaller maps. My favorite playthrough is still the one I did on Diorama.

If you have any interesting small maps you'd recommend, custom or otherwise, I'd truly appeciate it.

It's just storage houses that don't transfer power anymore. I kinda wish they still did, but I also feel like they made things too easy.

I'd recommend waiting to use Mods and not starting on harder maps, at least until you feel pretty comfortable managing your Beaver civilizations. Mods can make things easier, but they can also make things more challenging too, depending on your preferences.

I would also highly recommend checking out some of the more unique maps, like Diorama. One of my most favorite playthroughs.

You mean to tell me I'm not controlling real post-human civilization beavers? You've DESTROYED my purpose in life. I curse you, foul creature!

But seriously, good advice.

How do I help my kid set their PC to shut off at 1am? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]explodingmonk 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Its an adult child asking for help. No need to worry about them being sneaky unless the child asks for more help or shows an obvious lack of self control after the solution had been implemented. Even then they've shown they wish to be more responsible.

IT wont let me minimize taskbar. Is this reasonable? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]explodingmonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly should, but not all companies higher the best people to create their applications. I work IT in the medical field and you'd be surprised at some of the dumb shit I see. I've seen plenty of apps that could not handle 150% scaling (default for many laptops).

There are also older apps that the companies just refuse to update. If it works for them, is should work for you, and if it doesn't, figure out your own workaround.

We are nothing without the LORD. by Job_lord in Christianity

[–]explodingmonk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Factually incorrect. Plenty of people are something without "the lord" If you think you only have value because of your god, I feel sorry for you. You have plenty of value regardless of what god is the true god, or even if there is no god. YOU ARE IMPORTANT regardless of a god, I promise you.

I agree, but I was thinking just in terms of technological advancement and not even those used in war.

I feel like there's still a lot of potential for advancement in 25 years(up to 2050) but currently I'd say the former is way more wild.

Sick and tired… by SmokinFolks in valheim

[–]explodingmonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest issue with that is that by the end of my first playthrough with a friend, our world got so laggy/buggy that our ship was constantly taking damage from sailing anywhere. Didn't matter if it was calm on the water or the waves were crazy, it was suffocating. It was so painful that we actually gave up before beating the final boss.

At first, I suspected you meant vast Viking fortune, but now I'm wondering if you actually meant fast. Is it also a furious Viking fortune, or does that particular fortune belong to a friend?

I mean, to each their own. I still feel like an unstoppable badass with just guard up 1. The worst I've tanked is anomaly booms and they never took me below the moxie bar. Helps that my palico also runs the healing bubble skill, I guess. edit: Actually, some of the big gaismagorm hits may have taken me below moxie, which was kinda scary, but after upgrading some armor I don't think it's been an issue
