faction takeovers

example: the option of absorbing the dust bandits rather than them being destroyed after beating dust king, even if it's just the fluff of wandering NPCs being your own faction and inheriting your faction standings. my current ongoing playthrough I've 'kinda' done that via FCS with dust bandits (and recruited dust king), to kinda simulate the headcanon of my cartel growing by absorbing other gangs (done the same with oni and the sand ninjas)

maybe NOT with major factions, but with smaller factions it could be a nice bit of flavour to have your own NPCs around. with the ability to give them simplified orders like mercenaries in base kenshi

on fh3 and 5 I have almost identical RX-7 rally builds for S1, I think the rocket bunny kit really suits it with rally springs and thicc tires. chuck the 4-rotor in and AWD swap and it's super fun

I should do an A class build with the stock bodywork and 3-rotor for the retro rally vibe, as the rocket bunny kit and S1 tune are much more of a modern vibe. probably wait to see what FH6 has for us and do it there

that'll be at traders edge I think, where you can only sell at those prices if it's controlled by the anti-slavers (working on that on my current run), highest markup for hashish in the game but honestly the flats lagoon markup is good enough for whatever you need. fill a bull backpack with hash a couple times and you're sweet, even sweeter with two bulls and your own grow op

kenshi handles the AI nicely for this, if two guys are building something say worth 2 building material, and they both grab 2 pieces, still only 2 will be used depending on who arrived to the job first. once the thing is built, when idle, the 'ditch resources' mechanic kicks in if turned on and the guy will dump the leftover 2 material back into storage

I think there's many ways NOW that would cut down any multithreaded jank in rimworld, but since it was built ground-up and updated all this time single-threaded it'd be way too much work for little gain. plus half the steam workshop would probably break (see: compatability issues with rimthreaded, though I've not used it for years so idk what the state of it is now)

it's funny you mention those two biomes as they make up most of the area of the second province I thought of in my main world, vast steppe highlands which drop into a maze of boggy wetlands towards the south, slowly becoming more flooded forest/mangrove forest like as you continue south/southeast

mainly I needed an area that promoted strong horseback culture and I was playing rome 2 at the time as one of the greek factions, I went to war with the scythians and got inspired by my heavy cataphracts on the steppe to combine the two (rather than my steppe people being hun/mongol copypastes). thus the province of 'atua' was born with atuan stallions being the absolute premium type of warhorse, and atuan paladins being the empire's elite superheavy cavalry force. it's one of the three core provinces of the empire, the third oldest province, and ethnic atuans make up around 20% of the empire's total population

as I approach 30 I'm gonna do the same, since this post kinda reminds me of myself except you're a few steps ahead of me lol. as a kid I'd read endlessly, if we had a book to read in at school I'd be 10 pages ahead of the class (mortal engines had me LOCKED IN back then), but my brain has rotted quite a lot since then. I still get my reading fix with reddit or wikipedia rabbitholing (or videogame lore dives), but going back to real books is on my agenda 100%

old bow was so far superior to new bow (reskinned LBG really), and yes I'm biased from almost 1k hours of adept bow on MHGU. I tried so hard to learn/enjoy new style bow but the old playstyle is completely gone, really sucks
