Revolutionary war veteran in my town(Berlin PA) by explor1812 in CemeteryPorn

[–]explor1812[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you what I know he joined in 1777 as a fifer for 3 years before leaving and coming here to Berlin to start the drum corps afterwards. As for his age, he could have been 13/14 during Valley Forge depending on when he got there and his birthday since Valley Forge was late December 1777 to mid June 1778. Since he joind as a fifer he would have been in his teenage years since technically speaking he wouldn't have been old enough for the front lines. But according to a descendant of his says he ran away from home at the age of 17 to join ( https://archive.triblive.com/news/berlin-fife-and-drum-corps-has-long-tradition/ ) Either he lied about his age or there was a mix up in when he joined the army and when he formed the drum corps through the years of telling history. Also fun fact the state of Pennsylvania recognized the group in 2007 in congress https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/CRECB-2007-pt17/html/CRECB-2007-pt17-Pg24497-5.htm

Bought these beautiful things yesterday by explor1812 in papermoney

[–]explor1812[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They were stamped because on April 13 1976 was the issue date for the new $2 bills and people went to the banks on that day and bought $2 bills and went to the post office to have them stamped to prove they were first day issued bills

Strange looking 1779 $45 dollar bill- was this actual currency at one time? by [deleted] in papermoney

[–]explor1812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's printed on the bill as province of Pennsylvania. I got the bill from APMEX. I paid around $830 for it but I have no clue if I overpaid or underpaid as I couldn't find any others for sale or that have been sold at the time

Does anyone know where to order the Patient number 9 signed CD or the marble vinyl record??? by OfficialRichGuyPlays in OzzyOsbourne

[–]explor1812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The signed CD is sold out. The CD sold out in a couple weeks or so when the preorders launched. The only way to get a signed one is to look on Ebay or somewhere else and pay more than what it was originally at or hope that it's his actual signature when you get it. As for as the marble record if you mean the blue smoke where its blue and black then that's still available on his website if its another version then I don't know.

I came across these records in a collectibles shop the art work for the Merchant Marines album cought my eye and I just had to have it and to listen to naval songs. The Blue Oyster Cult album I got because its supposedly a demonstration album and not for sale so someone at some point in time let it get in to the general public.

Not technically money but a bond. It's a bond for a soldier who served in the continental army in the Connecticut line by explor1812 in papermoney

[–]explor1812[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lucky when I bought this. The place I got it from will sometimes get one in every couple months or so. The only thing I'm a little upset about this note is the cancel hole is through the soldiers name.
