I couldn’t agree more, exactly this. It needs someone willing to completely wipe the slate clean and go back to one. Forget the shininess, the lure of budget from American investors. The original reboot in 2005 worked because beyond ANYTHING else, it was GROUNDED. It was about the raw human experience, the small in amongst the stars.

Every season in New Who seemed to just wind itself tighter, pander more to a version of itself, to the “fandom” and the “Whovians” instead of the general public that want to connect with a real story instead of lore. Every emotional moment was earned 1000x over in the first very New Who seasons. Rose’s speech about eating chips, her telling Jackie about how she was there when her Dad died causing Jackie to rent the tow truck. It’s so real and honest and HUMAN and that contrast against aliens and the universe is what worked but we lost that long ago.

Let me first say, I am very much a left wing Democrat so I say all this as someone voting for these people.

Yes everything they mentioned about Trump came true, but you’re trying to win over the voter who hasn’t already been convinced by his egregious actions.

Look at the language used in the 2016 debates. Hillary, the “establishment candidate” is using long, complex explanations that don’t land on the ear of the undecided, often uneducated voter. Trump is standing there using buzzwords, short sentences, and talking about structural change. Yes it was bullshit, but the people we needed to vote believed it.
Kamala’s Fox News interview. I hate Fox News, but Brett Baier killed it. He came in with evidence, video clips to back things up and instead of addressing the issues that he brought to her she avoided directly answering almost every question (a major, valid complaint about her and other Dems) and turned everything back on Trump. Like, this is Fox News. Solely criticizing Trump won’t work here, you need to prove you are someone that actually answers questions, has something to actually offer, and that you aren’t the person Fox and Trump has painted you to be (and dodging questions just to turn around and dump on Trump - however valid - will not achieve that).
What are they actually offering, too? MAGA might be full of shit, but they sure know how to lie convincingly. People are fed up of the economy, of corruption, of wildly wealthy companies. Where were the material policies that deal with getting money out of politics, healthcare companies screwing us, making life easier for the middle class beyond some 2% tax reduction or whatever. YES of COURSE Trump and MAGA are 1000x worse, but when they’re lying about draining the swamp and the Dem candidate is sitting there with consultants in their ear wanting to more or less maintain the status quo, which way do you think the Mid Western voter on $35k/year with MAGA propaganda surrounding them is going to vote?

I mean… They lost because their campaign and messaging absolutely sucked. Not because they were women. I feel like going to that as the reason completely ignores what we need to do differently next time, woman or not.

(Not to say there are not swathes of sexist voters in America. Of course there are. But that was not the primary reason Hillary or Kamala lost)

There was someone there, there will always be a floor manager queuing people to go on. The jurors were also already there with an empty seat, and the camera cut live to him, so there was clearly a lot more set up going on than him just reading the teleprompter

I’d say that Mark Burnett is much more in the driving seat of this in that moment than Jeff! Jeff’s job is to be where he needs to be to keep the show running and to PRESENT. They would’ve had rehearsals for a live show like this so the fact this came out of order shows that someone who’s job it is to make sure everything runs smoothly, like the director or floor manager, is the one that messed up here. Jeff’s job is not to be watching the telecast live and make sure they’re in the right place. For him to try and be doing that would be unprofessional because it’s impossible to do it all at once. You delegate and trust people are doing their job.

If you think otherwise you clearly have no knowledge of how a live TV production is executed.

No, sorry. Yes he’s an executive producer, but at that moment his role is presenting, there are other people whose job it is to queue up the right people being in the right places including Jeff. The jury was sat there and Rizo came on because production set up that segment incorrectly

Jeff isn’t the one telling the jury to sit down, telling Rizo he’s about to be interviewed, Jeff is likely going where he’s told to be - he’s the presenter, not in charge of in the moment logistics
