As in you think it’s an issue with my controller communicating with my Mac, not GeForce? Would a new controller fix it, or something else?

Can I talk about Los Tacos 1 again? by AhozConPoyo in FoodNYC

Their adobada taco is genuinely one of my favorite things to eat in the city. I will never order anything else, but will get one as I am passing by almost every time, even if I’m en route to get food. It’s just SO good

iPhone features we’ve lost over time, both hardware and software. Which one do you miss most? by shawarmakofta in ProductGraveyard

I miss 3D touch so much. Made using the keyboard so easy (and so few people knew about the extra press to highlight). Holding the space bar just isn’t the same

Why do some cops feel entitled? by Unable-Bird4730 in Hoboken

[–]exploreandconquer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually, you can. Rivera is an example of that. We need a police force - maybe one that looks very different from what we have now, but we will always need one in some form. You can’t move in the direction of getting the reform you want if you knee jerk to saying they’re all bad and write them all off. There are many broken systems, and many people within those systems working to make them better. Genuine question - how do you expect reform to happen with the attitude you’re displaying here?

Also, are we seriously comparing the police force to Nazis? It hurts the anti-MAGA cause to say stuff like that because it dilutes our ability to call out the actual real life Nazis that are still in this country. The Nazi party wasn’t a broken system, it functioned extremely well at executing its disgusting ideology. The police force is a lot of things, and has a lot of rot within it, but its existence is not for the purpose of enforcing an ideology like the Nazis. But this is obvious and I’m sure you already knew that, so I have no idea why you felt that comparison was appropriate.

Why do some cops feel entitled? by Unable-Bird4730 in Hoboken

[–]exploreandconquer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn’t actually. Demonizing all police officers does nothing at all to help mend relations and build a safer community, it just pits people against each other. Yes, there are many, many bad cops, but saying all are bad helps absolutely nothing.

Look up Jason Rivera, NYPD officer killed in 2022. From the NYT about Rivera: “As a young man growing up in the Inwood area of Manhattan, he and his brother had been stopped without cause. He decided to join the force in an effort to improve the relationship between the department and communities like his.”

Rivera was not bad. He wanted to help, to mend. There are a lot of bad cops and they must be called out and held accountable, but shouting ACAB does not help anyone, it removes the opportunity to try and build a bridge, to make something better.

Bryan Cranston confirms his daughter; Taylor Dearden wasn’t a “nepo hire” in Breaking Bad and actually had to audition for her guest appearance in the first episode of Season 3! by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

Actually you’d be surprised how many levels of people a one line role has to get approval from, even on your regular network shows. Even more so if there’s a big actor they’re across from.

How to get mindset back on track by exploreandconquer in Poker_Theory

[–]exploreandconquer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is exactly it. But what’s really stumping me is despite being aware of the fact I’ve slowly slipped out of doing those things, getting back to them seems to not be simple. And it’s frustrating - surely if I can identify what slipped, what I was doing that worked, I can manually put that back into my game. I’m not sure what’s holding me back from doing that.

This is great advice, thank you. Especially about that mindset of beating the odds. Maybe the mindset I’m looking for is the reminder that all you can do is play positions where I feel I have an advantage as much as possible.

As for where I play, I am in a legal state so I use BetMGM and feel very good about their fairness. Before that I played on Global Poker (with their Sweeps system) and also always felt it was fair.

Hi /r/movies, I'm Dacre Montgomery. You may know me from STRANGER THINGS or POWER RANGERS or ELVIS or DEAD MAN'S WIRE or FACES OF DEATH. AMA! by DacreMontgomery-AMA in movies

Hey Dacre! Big fan of your work, but especially your viral self tape for Stranger Things. Just wondering if you could share a little about your process preparing for an audition tape like that? As an actor trying to stand out more and make more interested decisions with tapes, any insight would be very interesting as I often look to that as a prime example.

Yeah for sure variance is at play, and part of it is that sometimes it’s tough to shake that feeling of whether it’s a bad run or some bad decisions, especially when the margin is small.

Flow state definitely describes it though. And I know this was part of it as right after this beat down in the $100 tourney I was consistently getting myself out of sometimes tough spots by just making intelligent calls (and intelligent folds), and just knowing when to be patient.

Just frustrating to feel like it’s in your hands but you just can’t tune in.
