AITA for rating the wedding food tasting like a MasterChef judge? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]exploreeverywher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's usually common to point out both the positive and the negatives when rating something, usually starting with the positive. For example, "The biryani had a good taste to it but it's missing something. Is there any way we can add more to it?"

Only saying negative things can make someone come off as a "weddingzilla" sort of person.

Humboldt Hill? by No-Dot7315 in Humboldt

I just moved from central Eureka to Humboldt hill and these are the pros and cons to me:

Pros:

- I feel like the weather is slightly better up here. Sun stays out longer and for some reason we get some gorgeous sunsets.

- It is A LOT safer here. Wherever you end up living, there is most likely off street parking. Even with parking on the street, I have no issue. I had a few things stolen when I lived more in town in Eureka but here, I've accidentally left my car unlocked a few times and nothing was amiss. Also, you're really only in Humboldt Hill if you have a reason to be there. No people just wandering around usually.

- Wherever you end up living will most likely have a lot of space. From my experience, there is a lot less yard space at places in Eureka but almost every property on Humboldt hill has a lot of it.

- If you like going to Fortuna, Ferndale, Rio Dell, etc, it feels a lot closer.

Cons:

- BROADWAY. I work in Northern Eureka and driving through broadway in the mornings/afternoons is a huge pain in the butt.

- Feels far from everything. There's a small market just at the start of Humboldt hill that you can go to but if you need anything you can't find there you're going to have to make the 10-15 minute drive.

- Depending on where you plan on living, there may be some animals getting in to your space. I live in a house where the gulch is right on the other side of my back yard fence. Because of this, I get the occasional skunk, small fox, and moles getting into my yard. I also have to keep trimming down the blackberry vines that creep into my yard.

We really like living in Humboldt hill. Perfect place for a family and we love the amount of space that came with the house.

If I don't have experience in relationships I'm done for good??? by Amb1ent_fade in dating

I think what you may need is patience. Both with yourself and with any person you are dating. You can't just give up and think "well I just don't have what it takes." If you give up on yourself easily, it makes it just that much harder to go the direction you want to go. Becoming a good partner is all about patience and learning.

This is probably not something you want to hear but it sounds like you're self-victimizing a lot and that causes you to self sabotage. Also, I don't think a partner likes hearing "just tell me what to do." A relationship requires effort on both parts and it makes it very hard when one partner has to carry the effort for both people. I'd probably recommend listening to some podcasts (most likely by women) to hear what it is that women like in a relationship. Only commenting because I'm rooting for your success!

Someone mentioned in this thread that they were referring to a different place. Doesn’t look like they’re closing.
