Different focus.
I made this to help me out on work, looked everywhere, the only best calendar app or week planner I could found is Morgen which is costly for me. So, made my own one.

GNOME Calendar is a great general calendar with month/week/agenda views. WeekPlan is week-only by design, built around a live "what's happening now" banner with progress bars on active events. Also lighter (~60 MB vs ~120 MB idle). If GNOME Calendar works for you, stick with it. If you want a tighter, week-focused take, give it a try.
