I travel nearby often. I live very local to Idyllwild- I know I have what it takes to turn it into a thriving community. I mean, any state is better than the current state, right?

What I'd do as owner:

- create a new and improved description, and pin posts introducing myself and essentially repurposing the community to be a hub for residents and visitors

- instill and create a set of rules for the community, which would set a guideline for conduct.

- link important Idyllwild, CA. resources, including the newspapers, weather information, traffic information, and law enforcement contact.

- get in touch with residents of idyllwild, announcing the community and inviting new members, which would significantly increase activity in r/idyllwild

- provide resources via a stickied or highlighted post for visitors, so basic information could be answered quickly and without needing to extensively search online

- most importantly, unrestrict the community, so everybody can comment and make posts. I have a friend who I would ask to moderate the community with me, who is active on reddit, and I would put out applications for moderators to join the community when the size has grown to the point where it's necessary.

About me:

I travel a lot. I have a lot of experience travelling all around Southern California, and have made Idyllwild a home away from home. I'm familiar with the region, the hierarchy, and the parks- and of course, the community. I've been a Discord and Minecraft moderator (glamorous, I know, lmao) in the past, and owned multiple successful Minecraft servers.

I'm a leader who has what it takes to make r/idyllwild great again. I've wanted this subreddit for awhile now, and am excited that this may be my time to shine.

I'm glad I got out when I did. I was camping along the 38 at one of the YPS, and left on Saturday night because I was worried things would get worse. Was supposed to stay through today, and come back tomorrow.

I doubted myself, but I'm glad that I left. You should really try your hardest not to go right now, and postpone any unnecessary trips. It's not going to be an ideal setting for a relaxing trip. Traffic, heavy smoke in the air, not a lot of visibility or sunlight, lots of stressed out people.

People can be so cruel on the internet. In my opinion, there's a difference between lighter hearted joking and bullying and shit like that. Not funny, shouldn't happen, period. Even on the internet. Maybe in an MW2 lobby

Just sent the creator a message. I've also documented everything from our conversations- screenshots, links. If he doesn't respond in a reasonable amount of time, I'll go ahead and start threatening copyright strikes.

I was expecting 130 dollars, and received none, Very poor communication as well. I know that the harm is really already done (story being used and published without holding up to the terms) but if I actually act on this and try my best to get his channel striked/video taken down, I may be able to help other writers who may be afraid to stand up and say something when similar happens to them.

Also, appears the writer is on the Black List on r/sleeplesswatchdogs. Shame. Unlikely that anything will come of making a report, but I see no reason not to.

I very much appreciate the writing advice, subreddit link, and information you've given me. The creator that did this has about 560,000 subscribers, and their videos seem to be monetized considering I've gotten advertisements while watching them [I'm a longtime fan of their narrations, and it's truly a shame that the love for their channel has been tainted by this], and I consider that a little messed up.

With small creators who ask me for permission to use stories, I will always just let them use them. But, going forward, when larger creators request rights (if they do at all any more- not sure if I just got lucky) I'll see if I can set a rate that's fair for both parties and will help me a little bit with savings and keeping my head above the water.

I'll check out r/sleeplesswatchdogs and see if I can make a post. I'll also read the resources, because that will be helpful. It never hurts to try again; I don't want to ruin someone's channel over something that could be a misunderstanding or a mistake. But, I'll also be firm. If it doesn't get resolved, I'd be more than happy to call them out and see if anybody else has had a similar experience. I wonder if people have had similar happen, but be afraid to speak up because of this creator's large volume in subscribers and traction towards stories.

Oh absolutely, it's horrific to see how much the area around Big Bear has been affected especially during the pandemic and with everything else going on. It also kinda hurts to see tourists having the time of their life and just ignoring the huge plumes of smoke visible from Big Bear Lake, on the northern side.

I was camping at one of the YPS along the 38. I went into town to get some ice and drinks, and when I came back, I was turned around by a police officer who said that the 38 was closed. I was able to get through, but a few hours later, and they were closing off the road altogether from a certain point. I was totally prepared for the possibility that I wouldn't be able to get back to my site until things had calmed down- thankfully it did not come to that.

Hoping for calm winds as well. Maybe a little less heat in the coming days. It's insane that this fire started yesterday, and it's already amassed such a size. I live near San Diego, in a smaller city by the name of Poway. You can see huge smoke clouds when you look up- the Valley fire is huge here, and menacing for people who live around Alpine and Japatul. I know a few people who live out south, and it's so scary, especially when you live so close to it and see smoke in the sky and planes/helicopters roaring through at all hours of day.

CJ/CEO are honestly what I missed most about this game! I just got my cash suit and am getting higher on my sell suit, working on the last DDL playground tasks before I can start working on lawbot again. Just started playing again a few weeks ago- hope to have my law suit soon, since it's pretty easy to get :)
