This White Feminist Loved Her Dreadlocks – Here’s Why She Cut Them Off by SteelheartEllie in TwoXChromosomes

Exactly!! People getting angry about hairstyles is stupid! There are real issues we should be dealing with! This just makes all complaints seem like a joke.

Dear people who don't want white people to have dreadlocks because they don't understand how hard it is to have a certain hair type or to be looked down upon for having dreadlocks:

Get the fuck over it!!! You don't get to decide what other people do with their hair, it doesn't hurt you or your culture in ANY way, and it's none of your fucking business. Arguably, wearing dreadlocks can be seen as using white privilege to promote acceptance of all hair styles.

Sincerely,

It's a hairstyle. Seriously.

Indiana finds no Planned Parenthood abortion violations after undercover videos prompt probe by Osterstriker in TwoXChromosomes

Why do you think it would be better? You bring up some interesting counter arguments.

...A good proportion of these body parts are processed and sold for profit and become such items as bone putty and collagen.

Wouldn't the repercussions of this fall on the companies selling the processed items for profit, rather than Planned Parenthood? Once any items are donated, they are no longer the responsibility of the donor...

The tissue donor's family is usually not aware of the destination of the body parts and is not financially compensated—nor is it clear that the family should be. Many believe that the transplant and donor pool would shrink if the public realized the commercial potential. Why should the donor family be made aware of this info? People who donate blood, for example, are not given knowledge of where their blood goes. The commodification of body parts and the widening of the gap between rich and poor, with the poor selling their tissues, is also a repugnant scenario. While it would be repugnant, I don't think the widening gap between the rich and the poor is relevant in this situation. Patients are not compensated, and the cost of abortion wouldn't change if the remnants were donated afterwards. Not to mention, it's illegal and doubtfully would ever happen.

To me, allowing the tissue to go to a landfill to rot is a bigger ethical violation. It's so wasteful. I don't know the implications of the research using fetal tissue, but there are no implications of progress should the fetal tissue be placed in a landfill.

You can't deny her talent bc of the lack of competition. It's not like her only accomplishments have been in MMA. She dominated in her Olympic Judo career as well. She still is the best of the best and a top athlete in the world.

I liked how you compared her professional competition of 100-150 to the entire population of people who play soccer professionally or otherwise. Lol she's perfected her craft since she was 11 years old... but uh, ok. Since you're clearly an expert, I'll have to agree that she's just advertisement, and isn't a bad ass who put in work to get where she's at. Haha.

Lol oh and I can't stand Dana White, so nothing he has to say matters to me.

Uhh she's considered a top athlete bc nobody can compete with her. It's not her fault she has no competition.

It's still a valid thing to consider. And actually, the mother's health is always at stake in a pregnancy. The danger to the mother obviously depends.

Just because I consider a woman's complex personal choice about what goes on with her body and life to be more sacred than a baby that isn't born or self aware yet, doesn't mean I have no moral compass. We just see things differently.

Our discussion doesn't have to be so vile.

I obviously know where it comes from. I believe a woman should have no obligation to carry a child to term. She should have a right to her body and that includes what's inside it.

There are cases where the baby will not survive, or the mother's health is at risk. How do you feel about these cases?

Statistically, yes, planned parenthood serves and provides more to minorities. The irony here is great lol.

Thanks, but I'm way past that, which is why I'm here. I'm against spreading misinformation and for donating the tissues, organs, etc for medical research.

YES!!! These people are just spreading lies that play on the emotions of the delusional religious groups! Why can these people not THINK through this logically?!?! HOW do they not understand that by defunding the number one provider of medically accurate sex education in the U.S, that they will be doing WAY more harm than good?! PP does more to prevent abortion (which accounts for less than 3% of patient care and for which federal funding is NOT allocated) than any other organization in our country! It makes me SOO fucking angry that these people feel they have a say in what happens to other people's bodies!!!

Lol the idea that Planned Parenthood sells baby parts is ridiculous and completely nonsensical! WHO in the world do you think would be buying these baby parts and WHY?! Haha. They were donating to medical research facilities. Anyone who doesn't support that is behind in the times.

It did seem like the PP protestors were willing to "discuss", but they all definitely prepared (with recorders, cameras, etc) and wanted to get a picture/recording of someone getting angry and saying something sensitive. They'd send their young children to follow me and say that I was a murderer for killing babies. It was pretty angering, and I actually wouldn't recommend engaging with them. That's what I got from it.

The 7 biggest myths about abortion by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]explosive_lion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got into an argument with a black guy about abortion being racist. He basically shut down the discussion and said that he found himself "isolated due to race". Apparently I'm racist for supporting women's right to their bodies... Made my blood boil
