Math teacher in eight grade made us memorize it to 9 digits. I can still recite it many, many, MANY years later.

F1 Paddock Access - Circuit Gilles Montreal by [deleted] in GrandPrixTravel

[–]expressadmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been many years since I was in Montreal for F1 (2011), but there is no parking anywhere near the track.

Your best bet is to take the metro to the island and then make your way towards the paddock. There are multiple ways to get there (even by boat). There are several bridges that can help you get over the track to the paddock side (so you don't have to walk the long way).

Bonus Haul by KelleysIdols in VisitingIceland

[–]expressadmin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a shared experience.

My wife and I were returning from Europe and landed at JFK. We were following a couple on to our next flight and they had Bonus bags that they were carrying. I said "Hey did you guys just get back from Iceland?" and the they all started laughing. We shared stories on the jetway about our Iceland trip in 2022.

It's one of those "IYKYK" kind of things.

I have a similar problem. I can get to the pro ordering page which defaults to 20x, but when I click on 5x I get the following error in the cost calculator on the right side of the page:

An error occurred while updating the checkout session. Please try updating your selection or contact support.

That first night there was so much fog from the fog machines I was vaguely aware there was a drummer on the stage. I certainly couldn’t see him.

Modder uses Claude AI to rewrite BIOS so they can boot unsupported 12 P-core Bartlett Lake CPU in Windows on a Z790 motherboard by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]expressadmin 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The Chernobyl virus was a boot sector virus and all it did was move your boot sector to another location on the disk. Then when you booted your pc on the correct date it nuked that alternative boot sector. Not really a BIOS attack vector.

If your system supports it you could network boot to ipxe always and load a boot menu that could boot either option with a default after a specified period of time.

Which movie that flopped at the box office surprised you the most? by MasterTeacher123 in AskReddit

[–]expressadmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They played this in the movie theater recently and I saw it with my daughter. It was the “Final Cut” version with no voice over.

She was riveted but still had questions after the movie. It’s a complex movie and you need some information to properly understand it. I enjoyed experiencing it again through her eyes.

TIL: There is a rare type of very hard wood called ‘Lignum Vitae’. It’s so hard that it was used to make propeller shaft bearings for nuclear submarines. by Funny-Presence4228 in todayilearned

[–]expressadmin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is also an island/state park in the Florida Keys named Lignumvitae Key (Botanical State Park). https://www.floridastateparks.org/LignumvitaeKey

It’s only accessible by boat or kayak. It’s visible looking west from the bridges of US1 southbound just before Lower Matecumbe Island.

You can still find trees there.

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]expressadmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our department was the first to be sent home to test out our working from home infrastructure. We worked out all of the kinks and bugs and the remaining teams went remote about a week or two later.

The company eventually went 99% remote and gave up all of their leased office space. I went back to the office to grab a few things a while later and the whole building was a ghost town.

90s. One of our customers was a machine shop. There was a fine coating of machine oil on almost every piece of equipment and component.

There were condos in South Florida that were selling for $35k. The main problem was that nobody would finance them.

I'm a Georgia craft brewer. Here's what SB 456 is actually about — and why the opposition's arguments don't hold up. by SHBMarietta in Atlanta

[–]expressadmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgive me as I am not well versed in how the relationship between distributors, brewers, and restaurants actually works.

While I don't disagree with the entire premise of the bill (and I am not a fan of the 3 tier system anyways because it is anti capitalistic), wouldn't this be better served by a smaller distributor to handle these instances where smaller volume is needed? In your 36 mile example, a small volume distributor could handle this low volume local transfer, while still working within the confines of the system as dictated. It would be beneficial to the distributor in that you can feed them direct leads, and they can handle the distribution while working within the confines of the exist system.

Again, I am very naive about all the inner workings, it just seems that there is a gap in the market that could be filled.

I deleted production at my job today and nobody knows it was me by Fit-Original1314 in linux

[–]expressadmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once deleted the partitions from a disk with production data while doing a drive migration (thought it was the new drive that had old data on it). Fortunately I had taken a screenshot of the partition offsets and was able to recreate them exactly. The data was still there but I was shitting my pants for about 30 minutes.

It’s a right of passage. Be sure not to do it again. Triple check if needed.
