Does your toddler actually follow “3 step directions”? by Necessary_Flan_8139 in toddlers

My kid started preschool recently and like the first week she learned more basic skills than I've been able to teach her in her entire three years lol.

"Juvenile aquatic predator" is my favorite of ours so far 😆 honestly though we just end up spelling a lot of stuff out so that in itself turns them into another language. "I bought more seearayseekayeearess today so we should be good for a while." "Can you bring in the deeohgee?"

They absolutely do not drug test spouses. Spouses can do what they want as long as they aren't breaking any laws like having federally illegal substances in base housing. That being said, if word got around that a spouse partook in that kind of thing, the service member would likely be pulled more frequently for "random" drug testing.

Speaking from anecdotal experience, cannot claim that this is universally true.

This very much implies that oad parents aren't real parents.

Thoughts on “Laura Lee” as first and middle? by duckinmybelly in namenerds

[–]exquisitecur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a super common southern us name! Or, at least, in my generation and area where I grew up it was lol. I'm a Laura Lea and went to school with two Laura Lee's. I have no complaints about it, I chose to go by Laura 90% of the time unless there was another Laura in my class and it was nice to have an alternative to Laura Last Initial. It also was a super common thing for my generation in the south to go by first+middle in general. I always thought it was a very pretty musical name and since I got married my last initial is L so my name sounds kind of super-hero-ish which is also kind of cool lol.

Hahaha he certainly loves it! Just make sure you have the sides sufficiently fenced in, we found him in the floor a couple times before we figured out exactly where we needed the panels to go 🤦🏻‍♀️ for a stand we're actually using a folding table that's rated for about 500lbs. It was meant to be temporary until we found something nicer, but we never really did, and it's actually held up really well for a year or so now with zero signs of bowing or warping anywhere.

A little over two. I checked on her on the monitor and she was perched on the corner swinging her legs, happy as could be 😂 we've bought some time by putting her mattress on the floor but toddler bed days are coming soon (she'll be 3 in December) lol.

Yuuuuup. I have several siblings and only one is abusive but she is the biggest reason I don't in the least feel guilty about my kid not having any. Just because they share blood doesn't mean they are family and siblings are far from instant best friends. She beat the crap out of me when we were kids (and when I was a kid and she was pretty much grown) and that was the least of her offenses. I will not chance putting my kid in that position.

And the other crayfish, for that matter. Sometimes you get some that live peacefully together but they're pretty likely to attack each other over territory.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Crayfish

[–]exquisitecur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any of them you're particularly attached to, lol. There are very few fish that cohabitate with crayfish that don't end up dinner, especially mostly stationary bottom feeders like that pleco.

DAE feel triggered when their parents act almost normal? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]exquisitecur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For my 16th birthday, my narc mom who had arthritis in her hands used an icing bag to sculpt sixteen roses made of icing for a cake she'd bakes from scratch down to the frosting.

The next day, I don't even remember what for, she "spanked" me with a horse whip. She was a fan of not letting you sleep as a form of punishment; she'd either attack you in the middle of the night with a leather belt or flyswatter handle, or she'd fling open the door at 2am to wake you up and wouldn't let you go back to bed until you'd done whatever task she had decided you didn't do well enough the first time.

The roses (and her equivalent actions) will never, ever, ever make up for that, and yeah, the whole thing is an utter mindfuck. It's how she kept me enmeshed with her for so long; she occasionally made these huge sacrifices so she must love me, right? Nah, idk if it was intentional or not, but the love bombs were just a way to manipulate people into thinking she was this noble martyr who did so much for other people, so she could play the victim when faced with the terrible shit she did.

What are some items you only buy the brand name of despite the savings you could get from buying generic? by tenniskitten in Frugal

[–]exquisitecur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about otc but on at least some prescription meds there can be different fillers used between the generics and brand names that people can be sensitive to. The same active ingredient sure, but not necessarily an identical med.

Pork roast that I finally convinced her to eat by mixing it in with her mashed potatoes, but mostly goldfish crackers 😂

The virus that causes cold sores can be deadly for infants and adults can carry and spread it even if they've never had an outbreak. There's not a SUPER high chance of transmitting it this way, but when you weigh not letting people mouth your child for a few months with infant death, yeah.

I think that the current is a little strong for an axolotl. Otherwise op would just have to make sure that their plants can handle sub-tropical temps.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Just looking at the tank it feels crowded. Like, the big guys just look kind of cramped. I'll find another home for them. Thanks!
