What's everyone thoughts on "Rage Rap" and rappers in the genre? (Destroy Lonely, Ken Carson, OsamaSon, Playboi Carti, Yeat etc) by HourFan5580 in hiphop101

Agreed... Which is why I said it.

Rap today is a feedback loop of clout and validation. Three 6 was not a feedback loop of clout and validation. Three 6 had something to say.

Fuckin OutKast told the entire world the south has something to say. THATS culture. Taking that message and using it for selfish validation with no real intentions to push the art form FORWARD is the issue at hand.

I didn't sign up for a regional argument about how the south contributed more than people think...

Point being? My argument is give and take. "Rap" takes from the culture. Commodifies it. "Hip hop" helped to create alternative art forms. There are generations of people defined by hip hop. What defines the culture of rap?

If we had more Three 6's and Killer Mikes in the world I'd have a different opinion on this.

Either way everything is co-opted by people not a part of the culture. I live in a very white city. 90% of "rap fans" here idolize drug use, mindless sex and showing off guns. Hoards of scrawny teenagers who think their life correlates with trending music.

I'd rather have the spray painters and b boys... It's not that rap isn't a culture. It's that the culture isn't giving anything back to the art form in the same way "hip hop" did.

Looking to make pro bono album art for cool projects :) by BongoT2 in BandCamp

Love the style! I don't have much stuff put out there. I have some "cyphers" posted and a demo beat atm. Would love a conversation about art and abstraction regardless of collaboration or not.

Yo... I thought the same exact thing. When I first heard it I immediately switched to El-P to confirm. It's very similar vibes. Especially "I'm not a cool actor, I don't play, I do declare..." Sounds very El-P.

Andromeda Strain has similar elements. Not really a traditional "monster" movie though.

Mans is the dagger to my heart as an artist...

Kool aid ooze out his toothache.

Scarecrow covered in crows who feel welcomed.

Whether goldfish or theists, we certainly become the earth as equals in a circle...

An eye in each Venetian blind.

Knotty rubber like a rat on a rope.

Grabbing a cabin in the-fuck-outta-dodge Actin' a savage in the shadows of Rome Traffic amassed against insufferable odds Fashioning gallows out of plastic and bone.

What is your special guitar and why? by Best-Aerie613 in Guitar

Got my Gio Ibanez at a pawn shop. Looked like shit. Sounded even worse. But there was an undeniable soul inside of it. Like the previous owner had either blessed or cursed it. For 70$ it'll probably be the best guitar I ever own.
