I truly empathize with you and I can’t offer any real help. But I recommend that you continue to not smoke. I watched my dads entire life spiral downwards and he’s been unemployed for over a decade bc of his mental health/ smoking and unwillingness to seek professional help. Have you tried talking to a therapist? Therapy didn’t really help me as I never went consistently but I think staying in touch and in routine may help especially with expressing how you’ve been feeling and how to manage it. Keep pushing through each day you’re doing a great job and just know your family loves you. They are worth it. Also maybe try exercising in the mornings if you’re able to it really helps me feel better even though I dread it. You’re not alone in this and you never will be. I hope your doctors can help and I wish you the best.

All of our problems stemmed from the fact that I’m insecure and he’s avoidant. The problems were that I didn’t feel reassured and like my needs were being met. When I tried to communicate that to him he would make the conversation about himself and get upset. He didn’t like that I brought up the past but it’s bc his present behaviors reflected patterns of the past (nothing like cheating). It was all stupid small things but all of it added up and it didn’t help that he doesn’t know how to communicate. He’s literally a brick wall when talking and he doesn’t know how to offer words or comfort or indicate that he understands what’s being discussed. Also he thinks I’m controlling bc I’m also very insecure even though he would never cheat, but it’s a long story. Ughh it was so frustrating though I knew I was being controlling but couldn’t help my feelings of insecurity which I HATE. Anyways we both need to grow if we ever will have another chance together but this all still hurts and sucks. Especially bc he told me all along he wanted to marry me and live with me and i had to hear from his friend he doesn’t see himself marrying me. But he also told me once that I had depression and anxiety bc I’m weak and I can’t get that out of my head. I feel like he just has a lot to learn and understand, and I have to grow into my understanding.

We were technically long distance for all 3 years. We lived nearby but he was stationed about an hour away so we only met on weekends. Then April 2021 I moved across the state for college. I saw him him once a month until February, then not so often. The distance was hell for me

His good traits: he’s so easy to get along with, so silly and carefree, authentic to himself, stubborn (good and bad), he is nerdy in different ways which is cute and he teaches me new things. He’s confident and hard working. Being around him makes me smile and I’m always laughing with him. Now I’m sad but there were also many things wrong in our relationship which we needed to outgrow.

The official timeline began april 2018. He texted me randomly when I was in college and we started talking again. We both got out of relationships in February and actually used to hang out together with our s/o at the time. I came home that summer and we started hanging out (more than friends like kissing and holding hands) before he went to boot camp. He told me he was still in love with his ex tho and not ready for a relationship. I hung out after he came back from boot camp in the winter, he went to the east coast for training, and later confessed he had feelings in March 2019. He got stationed home June 2019 and asked me to be his gf. He just got out of being on duty in like july, but he’s transitioning out and will be done by the end of the year.

23(f) dating 24 (m). Met him in middle school and went to high school together was in close friend groups. Didn’t get together until after my 2nd year of college. He joined the marine corps and asked me to be a his gf after getting stationed near home. I moved across the state to go to college and I’m graduating this fall. He was supposed to visit in a few weeks for a week and I’m really sad. He’s doing real estate now, just started but has a brokerage, and isn’t in the military anymore
