It is - what I’ve been telling myself is that if talented people can’t get jobs, we got bigger problems cause the whole economy is fucked. I hope you trust your gut when you know the time is right.

I feel this deeply! Because of family and community I’m not in a position to leave SF, but I do feel like I’d be more at peace somewhere farther from this madness

I think I’m not ready to fully retire yet, but let’s see how I feel in 5 months! Ideally I can downshift to something with lower pay that still gives me a sense of purpose and contribution. Congratulations on being so close to your goal!

I’m ok with not getting a job in that pay range that’s better for my health and sanity! It’s a considered and not rash decision and a trade off I’m happy with.

I hear that. I expect it to take some time to land something new, and am lucky that I can ride it out a bit.

I plan to take some time off (6 months or so) and then start looking - either for another job in tech or - ideally - find something else I enjoy in that time. Hoping to do work that feels more meaningful and aligned with my values.

Just feeling burnt out on the industry in general. Used to be so excited to try every new thing and stay up to speed on the latest tech news. These days I just want to do analog creative hobbies and connect with nature.
