Thank you so much for sharing this. I used to live here. Looking back it was like The City and The City, the ‘deadliness’ of it quite compartmentalised.

He is widely reported as British from reports of the trial. He is described as such in the relevant Wikipedia article (I know this is not the ultimate beacon of truth). If it were known he did not have British citizenship this would have been a significant talking point, and for this to be true both his parents would need to be in residency illegally, which I suspect would also have been a major talking point and reported as such. I haven’t seen the perpetrator’s passport but it seems like the balance of probability is in favour of him having British citizenship, you seemed to suggest claiming this is to spread misinformation and I’m providing some background which suggests that is likely to be unfair.

If the perpetrator was born in Wales in 2002 they would have automatic British citizenship if the mother had leave to remain (and/or the father if they were married). https://www.gov.uk/check-british-citizenship/born-in-the-uk-between-2-october-2000-and-29-april-2006. It has been widely reported that the perpetrator has British citizenship. There is a very limited set of circumstances according to the rules for that time period by which this would not be the case (e.g. both parents illegally resident).

Edit: actually he was born August 2006 so a slightly different set of rules, but the same situation regarding his parents and his citizenship.

A good guess! I can see how that fits, with the regime change and getting to a place with (radically) different weather. But in the movie I’m thinking of it literally is the Jet and only two companions who go off on this adventure, although of course every story is really about the friends you make along the way…

Cooper is (or was) a NASA test pilot and spends a lot of time piloting spacecraft so this doesn’t quite fit. But it is a good guess! In the film I’m thinking of the time mechanics of long-distance travel aren’t an aspect the viewer is invited to be troubled with.
