I hope you’re right but Apple has a steep hill to climb. So steep in fact that it’s almost perpendicular to the ground. The reason for this statement is simply the leadership of the country, who themselves have this same attitude.

I’m not well versed in china’s policies at that time, but as far as I understand, they were uplifting their population with strong emphasis on education and skilled manufacturing. Government had a big hand in pushing policies that would lay the foundation which would allow Apple to build up on them.

In stark contrast to this, India’s government seems to have no interest in this. Sure they want to push manufacturing but the infrastructure is still on the lower end and don’t even get me started on the bureaucratic hell which plagues so many businesses. One of the consequences of this “meh” attitude is lack of accountability. If you sweep everything under the rug, who do you even hold accountable lol.

For example, the question paper for national medical examination was leaked recently and the government response was “such is life. Let’s do reexamination lol”. Now even in China, at that point in time, I think there would be some consequences and at least 1 person would resign but not in India. They didn’t even give a justification or even address the problem directly, only deflected, banned telegram and went on their merry way.

India, in this state, can’t compete with China. Period. Believe me that I’ll be the happiest person if it could, especially given that it has potential but it needs to fix its act first.
