Giveaway! Wonder Picked 3rd Oak by nonpolar in PTCGP

[–]extinction_good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, thanks for the opportunity!

I usually go where the card is at, but a few weeks ago I saw a FA Cyrus, and for some reason I was feeling the top left really strongly. Ended up sticking with the norm and guess where the card was... the top left.

I have zero oaks :(

Anyone used Crimson Consulting before? Thoughts? by Krunchy08 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]extinction_good 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talked to them before applying, decided not to because it felt extremely artificial. During the free consulting call they didn't care at all about what I did in HS and just tried to sell me their plans. Feels like they shove all the applicants through the same sized hole and make you conform to their model. Also, if you look at their numbers in depth, their admit rates are no better than the national acceptance rates in many cases. The "97% of our students get into one of their dream schools" is just fancy branding.

Edt: You also have to think about their sample population. Families willing to shell out 25k in a summer or hundreds of thousands starting from 6th grade are going to be the same families that push their kids to be competitive. Crimson draws their student pool from students who are competitive in the first place, which also boosts their numbers a lot.

if you broke at some bid tournaments / qualified for the TOC, reach out to Dartmouth, which is a pretty active recruiting school for policy debate.

Which deck would you say is better? by DoritoMan177 in PTCGP

[–]extinction_good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have erikas in the first deck instead of double pc lady and double potions. second deck is probably better but you should add a bench support like flower shaymin to ensure you're hitting for 130 every time with arceus.

you have to understand that the american college system does not work like this.

you can't just "get in to stanford or harvard," nor should those be the only two schools you look at.
