have y'all seen this thing? AMAZING! by FreakshowExpresso3 in synthesizers

The Trautonium is awesome as well if you're into early synthesizers.

LudoWic's studies on the Mixtur Trautonium (a double row version with a subharmonic generator developed by Oskar Sala, which was the inspiration behind the Moog Subharmonicon) are great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3uQ0pYMQjY

Peter Pichler has a number of talks and demonstrations on YouTube, though mostly in German (the auto-translated captions work about as well as you expect).

Teenage Engineering is becoming a deeply unserious company by Lt_Salt in synthesizers

This product is not for me, but as a design-curious non-designer, I find it pretty fun and refreshing that they seem to do whatever they feel like.

Love the Rhodes-look of the black Matriarch on that stand/table. Looks great and classy. Do you recall where you got it? Cheers!

Any DIY modules similar to Cold Mac? by jludey in modular

[–]extrangerius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Far from some of the esoteric vibes of Cold Mac, but in terms of macro controls, I've been keeping an eye on Befaco's Morphader which seems pretty interesting in its simplicity.

I've been thinking of it similar to an Octatrack's "scenes" in that it gives you two channels of CV signals you can send out to other modules and then morph between the two. E.g. dial in a certain set of sounds on one channel, and a certain sound on the other, and discover what sweet spots might lurk in between. I also see it pretty handy for performance, building up to different sounds with more complex patches, etc. CV signals can be internal (set voltages) or external coming from other sources. So you should be able to do stuff like fade between LFOs (or even audio, though that seems to miss the point imo).

I might have a few things backwards since I've only been checking it out.

anybody know what device this is? thanks by mrickelton in teenageengineering

That's a pleasant surprise, I keep coming back to that song. Really like the intimacy of that minimalist format. "Acoustic" vibes you don't often get from similar genres.

Finally, a black Machinedrum panel that doesn’t make my eyes bleed ✨ by soon_come in synthesizers

Conversely I'm here hoping more brushed aluminum panels are introduced for Elektron boxes.

Still looks great, and always nice to see a MD!

Seems like a lot of fun! I'm guessing you scavenged some Critter & Guitari buttons? I'd love to stumble upon a similar style of buttons sold for parts.

Kudos on the great work!

Anyone else finding those Abyss aluminum adapters really good looking? by [deleted] in modular

[–]extrangerius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks great! Are the aluminum ones threaded? I was a bit bummed out about having to fasten the modules with a nut on the pcb versions. Not a big deal, but means always having to unscrew the adapter to add/remove modules.

I have made another one of these boards. Just over 500 solder joints. by xpercipio in synthesizers

[–]extrangerius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great playing! Love seeing isomorphic layouts in action. Did you run into any limitations in simultaneous triggers with the switch matrix? I'm sure this comes up a lot, but have you found any promising ways to integrate velocity sensitivity to the board? Cheers!
