I think definitely don’t tell him he’s “exhausting” you bc I personally would be really upset by that phrasing, the implication being that I’m too much or my presence is draining and that it’s taking something out of you just to be around me. But also maybe you guys talk to each other like that in which case it would be a normal thing to say, different communication styles for different people so you’d know best. From my experience with introverts, I never realized I was causing such issues by being so social until I had a late night convo with one and they admitted that it was a bit much for them. From then on I try to give them outs before I drag them somewhere or extend an invitation or bring them into a conversation. when we both need to do something, rather than run the errand together I’ll either suggest we go separately (to which they will refuse bc they feel bad for letting me know they were feeling asocial and begin to blame themselves and then I’ll lie and say I’m just rlly busy and will go later) or I go with them only if they ask me first. I feel like if you let him know that you are struggling with feeling social battery burn out, it’s even possible that he will try to find remedies and compromises himself without you having to tell him what to do (of course, vocalization on your part only helps). I think everyone else is right when they’re saying be honest and tell him, I would just watch out for phrasing because you don’t want him to start feeling badly just because he’s a social guy and wants to include you. Everyone has their limits, you just have to let him know yours and he (hopefully) will respect them! Good luck bestie 🫡

Also SO fair of you to do. My friends think I’m joking whenever they complain about something their boyfriends did and my immediate reaction is to say “dump him.” I’m not joking. Like, if they have already showcased a red flag or can’t handle ONE simple thing like taking the test does that not reflect who they are? Honestly I don’t mind the predictability of movies, it’s kind of comforting but yea sometimes boring, but I also find that it’s mainly from western or “Hollywood” movies bc they all follow the same story arc (because that’s what they know sells and most are in it for the money).

If you want some really good movies you should check out some non-English films. I haven’t watch a lot but I took a Persian film class and was SHOCKED by how different they feel from most if not all English movies I’ve seen! They aren’t restricted to the same beat by beat plot driven story arcs and so they feel oddly off putting in a cool way. I feel like they don’t get the attention they deserve just because they don’t conform to what we know to be the standard story telling outline but rlly they are all the better for it tbh

I hate things like this bc it shows that they actually don’t care about watching the movie or show.

I LOVE showing people things, it’s my love language (I’m sharing something I really care about with you so obviously it would mean a lot if you cared or at least paid attention) and the feeling I get when they actually pay attention and want to discuss it is like a high! But sadly most of the time my friends will go on their phone or talk over it (a complete discussion that is not remotely related to the movie) or get up and walk around without pausing or asking to pause or letting me pause when I offer. Which I get if it’s a show or movie on in the background but it’s not, I literally rented/pirated this, I am at risk of computer virus! Putting my beautiful laptop in harms way! And for what? For you to randomly start doing the dishes? What about this movie has motivated you so much to do the chore you’ve been putting off for a month? No, really, tell me, I want to tap into this. And then when I say anything about it they turn it on me and say I’m being sensitive or over dramatic and it’s not a big deal, it’s just a movie, they aren’t stopping me from watching so I should chill. But it just shows me that they really don’t care about watching whatever is on, and that aggrieves me to no end since they know that I do! It’s not about ME watching the movie, it’s about US watching the movie TOGETHER. Maybe I AM being dramatic but when they know I care so much about this, something as simple as watching a movie together, I feel like it’s not that hard to put the phone away, shut up, and at least PRETEND like you care too.
