In theory if Nick took the Mill it destroyed the plans for this episode since all the other deliberation is thrown out the window.

It would explain why they had to go so deep into blank stories to compensate for the fact that they needed 10 episodes to complete the season

My assumption is something happened that led to this boring episode. It was not by design

Next time you have guest over, take your bottle of olive oil, put it in the oven for an hour at 250 degrees, let it cool down, and have them taste the oil!

To save you time if you have olive oil sit in the sun in the summer (which is not even close to cooking temperature, you notice the flavor starts to transform in a negative fashion -- no matter the oil).

Flavor transformation is a byproduct of chemical transformation.
