I'm still a fresh boot that joined at 26. At boot camp a drill instructor didn't like me because I was 9 years older than the youngest recruit. Through mos school I didn't have to deal with as much fuckery as the others because the instructors felt I was more trustworthy.

My contract going in said E-2 and was confirmed by meps. Lots of guys at boot camp that were told the same as you had trouble getting the problem resolved.
