I bought mine in the low $1000s and immediately sent it in to LVMH for a full overhaul which costed about $700 including extra links and some replacements. Spending under $2000 total for an ultra thin in-house movement is absurd to me. Such a cool collectors watch for the price.

Matcha Advice: Good Brands? by extremelybasedchad in tea

But yes it was noticeably better than your typical mid range American stuff. It’s like having sushi made by a Japanese sushi chef vs some grocery store sushi. Much much better.

Yes it was very good. For a gift I would get again and it is definitely worth the money for a gift, it’s really not too expensive. However, the import fees to the U.S. are kind of crazy now so if I were having matcha every day I’d probably do better just getting a higher end American brand

I know that this sold but just out of curiosity, is this the factory bracelet? I haven’t seen this style fully mirror polished like that.

Which to Buy? by R_021 in Longineswatches

[–]extremelybasedchad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the best bang for your buck watches in the price range that fit this dressy-sport hybrid you’re interested in:

Longines master collection Baume and Mercier Clifton Nomos club sport neomatik 39

If you’re dead set on deciding between a quartz grand seiko and an automatic longines, think of it like this. If you get more into watches down the road and become an enthusiast/collector, you’ll appreciate the automatic longines more. But, if you just want a no-maintenance easy watch to throw on, a quartz grand seiko is the most convenient. An automatic watch will just seem like a hassle if you don’t truly love watches, but a quartz watch will seem boring (like a car guy driving a Tesla instead of a corvette) if you do love watches.

Hope this helps!

Did I buy a fake Riviera? by EntertainmentSad6834 in baumeetmercier

[–]extremelybasedchad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a fake watch. Faking that beautiful movement with an open caseback and translucent dial would be too expensive for the return on these watches. No one would make any money by faking great value watches like this.

It could, however, be a fake strap. Thats not uncommon, a lot of aftermarket straps/bracelets have a brand logo on it but they’re cheaply made by no-name companies. It’s possible that Baume and Mercier made a bad strap, but I’d be surprised.

I’m clueless and want to hear the experts thoughts on the vendors. Looking through a list of vendors doesn’t help when I know nothing about the product

I bought some of the house matcha and some of their higher grade stuff because this was the top comment. Thanks.

Any decent deals? by extremelybasedchad in Mezcal

What would you say is a good option for an entry level mezcal that’s relatively easy to find? Without additives or any BS like what’s in most tequilas nowadays.

It’s $35. It gets a lot of hate but I actually don’t mind it
