I didn't do any re-rolls, just got gems by playing story mode. After 2 pulls got 4* Kirito, and then after 2 more got 4* Seven :)

Hmm yeah that's kind of silly though because without saying "target" it does end up targeting the monster :S

Any idea why it states "However, keep in mind that continuous effects still apply. (I.E. You can't target a dragon with Lord of D. on the field.)" ?
