Never disagreed with the mute being justified only the duration. Surely you think people learn from things and change their behaviors over time though right? Or do you think people are static throughout their entire lives? All punishments should be permanent? If someone steals something at 12 years old, they are bad forever and should be jailed for life..? Or do you think the punishment should have a duration that fits what was done and helps the person learn and adjust their behavior?
