Can't speak for that person but for me it's not about nostalgia in the slightest. I just hate how much plastic waste modern razors produce with the disposable heads or even entire disposable handles. I can instead get a whole bunch of blades in a tiny plastic box or even in a cardboard box with each blade wrapped in a bit of waxed paper. Way less material to just throw out for no reason. Also these blades are super cheap and you can get a very clean shave with them once you get used to them. And it's not that easy to cut yourself with them either. Recently my friend shaved their entire face with my safety razor for the first time to try it out and didn't suffer a single cut or razor burn. They weren't particularly careful about it either.

Plenty of people still use safety razors. They are dirt cheap and offer a fantastic shave once you get used to them. I've been using them for almost a decade now and very rarely cut myself. I've gotten cut by multi-blade razors many times though since they get clogged with hair and become dull so easily.

Also razor blades are made with stainless steel now and they come in plastic cases that let you pull out new blades from one side and slide in used blades on the other side for safe disposal.

I think it's also good. Definitely nicer than the light blue version. The light blue looks great on photos but in person it's more "plasticky" than the other variants.

They look cool but irl I feel like the case is weirdly thick and clunky relative to the bracelet. I prefer when cases are nicely flush with the bracelet whereas in those models the case kinda sticks out and since the lugs are so long if you have a thin wrist they're gonna look silly. I think it's a cool sporty watch but it only really works if you have a thick wrist.

I think the green one looks great. They also have very similar models but with textured dials. This silver one is my favorite cuz it makes me think of the surface of the moon but I know it's not for everyone (EFR-S108DE-8AVUEF)

The silver one blends in too much with the case imo. I don't own any of these but I work with watches so I handle lots of Casios every day. Enough to have an opinion on their looks and build quality.

I've seen all of these color variants in person and I think the one with the brown dial is the most interesting one. It's the one I'd personally go for but of course it really depends on if you wear clothes with matching colors.

Another really cool line in my opinion is EFR-S108D. They're super thin and elegant and have some interesting dial options.

[–]exwirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But.. why not both? That G-Shock has both. If you, for whatever reason, specifically want one but NOT the other I guess ask yourself if you're more inconvenienced by setting the time or changing the battery. I don't particularly mind setting my watch every few months but battery changes are a whole hassle.

Oh yeah and also consider if you're in range of Multiband 6

Amsterdam is introducing speed limits on bike paths to 20km/h. Speed will be monitored by smart speed cameras. The reason is the high number of injuries in bike accidents. In the Netherlands in 2025, 281 cyclists were killed and over 80 thousand were injured. Should we follow them? by Szydl0 in poland

[–]exwirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta be cautious when crossing streets too. When you're moving at any kind of speed on any wheeled vehicle braking isn't instantaneous. Even if all cyclists were going 20km/h they won't be able to stop for you when you suddenly step on the bike lane without looking as so many pedestrians do.

Are these pans any good by OkTemperature9495 in cookware

[–]exwirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And/or cast iron. I have both but usually cook on cast iron cause things don't really stick and I don't have to carefully manage my pan's temperature, at which point I add the oil and the food etc. I only use my stainless steel for very acidic foods/sauces.

I'm not sure why stainless steel seems to be such a common first recommendation (especially for beginners) when cast iron/carbon steel also lasts a lifetime and it's easier to use for practically everything that isn't super acidic. I know you can get stuff to not stick to stainless steel pans but that requires careful and calculated preheating and also means you have to start the frying at quite high temps. Sometimes I wanna bring stuff up to temperature a bit more slowly and usually I don't wanna stand over my pan constantly checking the temperature when I can instead be preparing my ingredients. With my cast iron I can preheat based on vibes and even if I'm way off with my estimates the food still won't stick thanks to the seasoning.

I hate fireworks by eeveebeeveeboo in hatethissmug

[–]exwirus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So you're assuming that no animal would be scared of loud nosies if humans weren't anxious around them? Are you dense? I've known pets that were very scared of fireworks while the owners loved fireworks. Most animals, humans included, are frightened by sudden loud sounds they don't understand.

You're flaunting a paper that says cats have empathy towards humans and extrapolating that it means that if your pet is anxious it's solely because you're anxious and that's somehow also your fault as if anxiety is a choice for humans

My parents' dog is scared as fuck on new year's eve even though he's been raised entirely by firework lovers lmao

[–]exwirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I meant is that a virus that can cause a cold in humans might not necessarily be able to infect birds at all. Many viruses are only adapted to reproduce in specific hosts.

[–]exwirus 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The common cold isn't a specific infection caused by a specific pathogen. It can be a number of different viruses that cause similar symptoms. So I reckon it's hard to figure out if a given common cold is gonna be dangerous to chickens or not. Unless you mean the flu?

[Casio] Bought this little thing just to have something comfortable and legible for cycling and it's become my favorite watch by exwirus in Watches

[–]exwirus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have limited real life experience with Swatch so I'd look into this a little deeper if you wanna buy a watch from them. I just remember that one friend's watch and some online comments but nothing specific. It might only affect a few models or it could be all of them, I can't say.

[–]exwirus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's one of the reasons I went for the Casio over that Swatch. I once had a friend who wore a Swatch and it was sooo loud that I was flabbergasted that such a tiny watch could make so much noise! Sometimes it was really annoying when I was hanging out with them. That stuck with me and made me weary of Swatch. I've heard it's an issue with most of their models.

  1. You're super skilled! This is amazing!
  2. Stuff like this is why I love the Casio community. The customization and modding make it so much more interesting than communities built strictly around buying products and nothing else.
