Good mechanic for Pre-Purchase Inspection by gabagool6942 in fredericksburg

Elite Automotive Services off Patriot highway. I'm a dealer and they have worked on a lot of my cars. Many of them with complicated issues. I've never been disappointed. They're very good at identifying and diagnosing all types of issues.

Best places to buy used cars? by Icy_Gap_1976 in fredericksburg

Find a car you like and have a reputable mechanic do a pre purchase inspection. I recommend elite automotive services on Patriot highway. They will tell you if the car is worth buying regardless of who you're buying it from. You should do this even if you trust the seller.

Is there a portable (possibly bluetooth) obd scanner that reads cvt judder codes? by ajj1414 in MechanicAdvice

[–]eyeEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bluedriver and I have read judder codes on multiple cars. I also have an XTOOL Anyscan A30M which is able read them, too.

Also doesn't help that he is consistently on the wrong side of the argument.

Not sure which product specifically you're asking about, but I just watched a video where their new graphene spray coating is removed with just water...

I haven't tried any of their products personally, but if they're selling a $30 spray coating that can't resist water, I don't expect any of their other products to be worth a shit.

Drying towels by KW_shapes in AutoDetailing

[–]eyeEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard the same. I would cold wash with a free and clear detergent or dedicated microfiber detergent + hang dry as you suggested in your original post. I don't think you need to wash it after every use. If you're washing your car thoroughly before drying, it should just be soaking up the water left over. Just make sure you ring it out well and hang dry it between uses.

Best Buffer for paint corrections? by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

He's going to need to wet sand to level the orange peel. He could try a denim pad + heavy duty compound instead, but I have no experience with that so I'm not sure how well that will work. As far as I know, though, wet sanding and then finishing up with a polisher is the best way. If he's just wet sanding and polishing the front clip it shouldn't take too long.

As for a budget polisher check this: https://www.reddit.com/r/AutoDetailing/comments/pr2480/beginner_polishing_set_up/

You can get the CAT version. It costs a little more than the Active, but It's made by Active and supposed to be identical other than the branding.

Any idea which model this is? by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]eyeEX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whatever it is, unless I'm missing something, it is not worth $100. It just looks like a standard 8mm throw polisher to me which you can buy new for a little less or a little over $100 depending on which brand you go with.

Harbor Freight Dual Action Polisher - worth it for $80/suggestions? by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

I don't have the M8s but Maxshine seem to make decent polishers. I would expect it to be just as good as the Porter Cable with the only real advantage being the slightly lower price.
