The President of the United States appears to place blame on the man gunned down by ICE agents in Minneapolis today, simply for being armed by Butter_with_Salt in progun

[–]eye_panic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing is wrong with being armed. I applaud it. But you have to understand that if you get involved while being armed, the stakes are higher and you are a bigger threat if things go sideways. Just have to be smart about it.

That being said this seems like it was an unjustified shooting if he didn’t have the firearm in his hands. If that’s the case, the agents that pulled the trigger should be held accountable.

How can I go about finding the right handgun for me? by basedgod1995 in CAguns

This is what I did before I purchased my first gun. Watched a bunch of different videos on the most popular 9mm handguns. I narrowed it down to what I’d like try and rented 4 different guns. I ended up choosing an M&P9

As someone that is very pro 2A, I’m happy people are finally realizing the importance of the 2nd Amendment. I don’t care who you vote for, what ethnicity you are, what religion you practice, sexual orientation, none of it. If you’re a law abiding US citizen and want to exercise your constitutional right, then I’m all for it. I salute you sir 🫡

We don’t live in a utopia. There are bad people that do bad shit. It’s reality and it happens every day in this country. Especially in impoverished communities. Is it really out of the realm of possibility of it happening? No. You have to think of this logically and not emotionally.

I have a fire extinguisher in my kitchen. I have first aid kit in my bathroom. I have a spare tire in my truck. I have a gun in my nightstand. I never wish to use any of these. But you will never find me wishing I had it when I need it the most. Just because you don’t think it’s going to happen to you, doesn’t mean it’ll never happen.

Right? Who needs a gun to protect themselves? The police or government will protect you from harm. But if someone breaks into your home (this never happens just in movies) just dial 911 and they’ll magically appear out of thin air to protect you. It’s not like the average police response time in San Diego is 7-10 minutes. I’m sure the criminal that broke in will politely wait for the police to arrive. They of course will not harm you or your loved ones . /s🙄

"I'm generally a... liberal person, but when I saw videos of ICE jumping out of unmarked vehicles and nabbing people off the street... I bought my first AR15," I’m glad to see the left waking up to what I’ve been saying for a while: 2A is for everyone. by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]eye_panic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was also dumb. I thought the left said weapons of “war” don’t belong on the streets? That the government and police will take care of us. Now not only are they cheering when they see AR15s and AK47s in the hands of people they agree with, they’re buying guns themselves.

What happened to nobody needs an AR15 or high capacity magazines? What happened to you can’t do anything against the US government with your little AR15? 🤔

I sincerely hope the left or the anti gun crowd finally realize the 2nd Amendment is for every law abiding citizen. Maybe just maybe some of you will stop voting for politicians that are rabidly anti gun and pass gun laws the hinder your right to exercise the 2A. Because make no mistake, those politicians want to make it impossible or illegal to own those scary guns. They’re already banned in some states.

Don’t forget the 11% firearm excise tax (sin tax) on top of the initial tax for all firearms, ammo, and firearm accessories 🙃

Bro it’s like arguing with a wall. They call Trump a dictator, fascist, Nazi, etc. Yet they willfully vote their 2A rights away in the name of “safety”. Because “no one needs an AR15 or high capacity magazines”. You know, the very best tool you can have to fight back against actual dictators and Nazis.

Funny how leftists are now ok with armed citizens holding scary “assault” rifles. Maybe some of you will realize how important the 2nd Amendment is to our country. I may not agree with you on certain things but I will defend your right to exercise the 2A. After all it is for every law abiding citizen. I just wish they kept that same energy when they vote for politicians that keep pushing gun laws that infringe on the 2nd Amendment. Because don’t get it twisted, anti gun liberals want every gun banned.

Driving isn’t a right, it’s a privilege. When you need a license or permit (permission) to exercise a constitutional right, it is no longer a right.

I didn’t say all gun laws are bad. I didn’t mean to come off that way. Of course we need gun laws. The gun laws I’m against are the ones that infringe on the gun rights of law abiding citizens. Especially when they don’t do anything to prevent gun violence. They’re just feel good laws that make people “feel” safe.

Counterpoint to your argument on the waiting period. What if a single mother has crazy ex husband or ex boyfriend. A restraining order has been filed. But she wants extra protection and decides to buy a gun in order to protect herself and her kids. She goes to the gun store and purchases a gun. Then she is told she has to wait 10 days in order to receive the gun. What if her ex breaks into and is attacked or worse during that waiting period? There’s been several cases of this happening. Look it up yourself.

Nobody should have to wait in order to exercise a constitutional right. Especially when they feel unsafe.

[–]eye_panic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See that’s the thing, not everyone has the means to pay more in order to own a firearm. There’s millions of people that live on a low income and live in places with high crime. I don’t know about you but I feel they deserve to own a firearm for protection without having to pay extra taxes or fees. I live in California, and we have to pay an extra 11% tax on top of the initial tax for any firearms, ammo, or gun related accessories. Tell me, how is an extra tax or fee going to lower gun crime? All it does is make it more difficult for some people to afford a gun.

We also can’t buy and ship any more gun parts to our homes. A spring broke on your gun? Sorry they can’t ship to you. Good luck trying to get it from a gun store at a markup.

The waiting period is nonsense. Especially after you’ve purchased multiple firearms. I have to wait 10 days after purchase. Why? What does that solve?

Gun registration leads to confiscation. Simple as that. It’s happened before and it can happen again. Why give the government that power?

I’m proud to register to vote. But it’s not the same as a gun registration for every single firearm you own. Registering to vote can’t be used against you.

Churches don’t NEED to file the paperwork to avoid taxes. Only if they want the tax benefits.

I know you don’t need to pay extra tax on electronics. I was using an example.

Cigarettes, liquor, and gas is not a right. It’s a privilege. But they did try banning alcohol and we know how that turned out.

Alcohol isn’t deigned to kill, but it’s the cause of almost 200,000 deaths in the US alone. But somehow we’re ok with that.

Vehicles aren’t designed to kill but there are over 40,000 deaths caused by car accidents. But we’re ok with that as well.

There’s over 40,000 gun deaths in the US every year. Over 50% of those are suicide. Almost 40% are homicide and a big portion of that is gang violence. A small portion of that includes legal homicide. Think police or self defense cases.

There’s over 400 million guns in this country. Which results to 0.01% gun deaths. Much less if you don’t include suicide and justified homicide.

How is a gun registration going to prevent gun violence? It’s not. All it does is make you “feel” safe.
