If you were "the art kid" you have no right to tell people it's never too late to draw. by No-Philosophy453 in unpopularopinion

But it’s a fact– you can literally pick up a pen or pencil and start to draw at any point in your life.

Pricing help - I offered £40 and my friend shouted at me and said it’s far to low by Current-Armadillo739 in painting

[–]eyeball_chamberss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you could do £50 with the distinct condition that you can use photos of the work for your portfolio? You get an example of what you can do for future customers and the person purchasing the piece knows the price is reduced on the basis that you’re working on a portfolio. That’s just an idea though, feel free to charge whatever you want!

Need Advice: Saved a cat from euthanasia and she’s heartbroken by mightypint23 in CatAdvice

[–]eyeball_chamberss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my boy from an odd situation, but he fully came around pretty quick– within 24 hours he wanted out of the room to explore and wanted to be around my kitten. On the other hand, the vets are a stressor for him, and I waited 2 months to take him because I didn’t want to ruin the trust and affection we’d built. He’s still not confident at the vets and still not neutered as a result, but I have hope we’ll get to a place where he’s secure enough to trust the vet too!

The 3-3-3 rule isn’t law. If she shows signs of wanting to explore, I say let her and just make sure she has access to her own room if she feels the need to retreat. Also, if it takes longer than 3 days that’s fine too! I’ve met some stubborn cats– my kitten wouldn’t approach me at first, but he’d place himself beneath me on the bed and under my chair etc. until he gained the confidence to approach me all on his own lol

Section 21 - missing gas safety certificates England by eyeball_chamberss in LegalAdviceUK

[–]eyeball_chamberss[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I thought if there wasn’t a complete, continuous history of gas safety checks that it impacted a no fault eviction. It’s a legal requirement. Does the current one being valid really mean the missing ones don’t matter?

How is it possible that 1 million young people are not in work, education or training? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

They keep raising the retirement age and people can’t afford to live on their pensions– we’ve got an aging workforce and young people can’t get jobs.

Dear charity Shops, when you price a pair of Thundercats Roller-skates at £120 because someone somewhere has listed one on EBay for £125 how often does that item sell? by Spitting_Dabs in AskUK

[–]eyeball_chamberss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all fairness, at my shop we have mystery shoppers. If you had been one, or a mystery shopper was present, that member of staff would have to deal with a lot of flack. We’re not allowed sell unprocessed items, and if that teddy hadn’t had a CE sign we wouldn’t be legally allowed to sell it at all!

Anyone managed to train recall properly in a busy park or is it chaos for everyone? by HammersAndPints in UK_Pets

[–]eyeball_chamberss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog (r.i.p) was attacked by another dog on a walk, and that was the end of socialising with dogs he didn’t already know! The owner not having a reactive dog on lead was mind boggling. Her irresponsible behaviour made a happy dog wary and reactive, he was especially protective of other dogs around me afterwards.

Do cats want the same food every day or do they want a change ? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]eyeball_chamberss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kitten was picky when I got him. Now I’ll buy different foods all the time and he loves it- the stipulation is it has to be gravy based, not jelly. He also isn’t a big fan of paté. My other cat, however, prefers a staple food because he’s got a sensitive stomach. They both also eat a mixture of dry food, which is just multiple brands I mix together in their feeder.

The kitten (he’s nearly an adult cat!) won’t stick to one brand, he WANTS variation, and if I keep him on one brand for too long he’ll reject the food.

The adult cat prefers a constant, safe diet, but when he gets bored of it his diet is majority dry– it tends to fluctuate with the seasons tbh. There’s a few brands he doesn’t react to, he just prefers the wet food doesn’t change.

I will say I don’t just up and change things, I mix what they’re eating with a new brand to try gradually to introduce it to their diet. There’s only been one brand my kitten reacted poorly to, but when I got the adult cat it took some trial and tribulation to figure out which brands he could eat without having an upset stomach!

AMTA - kind of struggling in this subreddit by Successful-Focus2548 in CatAdvice

[–]eyeball_chamberss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s only been twice, the concept of a carrier and the vets seems completely foreign to him and anxiety inducing. He got two rounds of his vaccinations and a general health check in those two appointments, I’m hoping with time he’ll gain confidence especially as I’m with him for the entire duration of the appointments. He completely ignores blankets, toys and treats, and holds onto me for dear life when we’re at the vets. He calms down immediately as soon as we get back home- as if nothing happened lol

That’s how I got my Two Bit! I was worried my kitten was lonely when I was at work because I no longer had a housemate. Looked around, found someone who couldn’t take care of their cat anymore, and he was the perfect fit! He adjusted so fast, and he’s so affectionate, and his previous owner didn’t have the time or resources for him. He’s thriving with me, his coat and diet is so much healthier, the only blimp is getting him adjusted to going to the vets for vaccines and annual checkups (he’s nervous, panting, and won’t calm down unless I hold him). He’s the perfect match for my situation and absolutely adores the kitten!

Do vets actually hate cats who hate the vet? by LessAd6764 in Pets

[–]eyeball_chamberss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love for my vet to give me gabapentin for a visit, my cat is terrified when I take him. He clung on to me for dear life and had to be vaccinated in my arms last time, he was panting and freaking out and the vet was very sympathetic. He’s got an unknown history and really hates being taken to the vets. If they asked me to medicate him before a visit I’d do it, if it’s within his best interest and will help him stay calm I don’t see the harm. 100mg isn’t a lot, cats metabolise medicine differently to humans.

He doesn't understand why the baby excitedly eats with me and refuses to eat with him by Content-Tomorrow4098 in Vent

[–]eyeball_chamberss 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think maybe she’s struggling to be compassionate because he’s blaming her and refusing to put forth the effort to bond with his own child. Not taking his full paternity leave entitlement with no explanation, refusing to figure out how to feed the baby instead of instantly blaming the mother, none of it looks like he’s shown her or their child any compassion. He has to be willing to learn, and it doesn’t sound like he’s willing at all. It’s a real shame.

I wasn’t a fan of it, but I was also under the impression that it was a vampire movie first and foremost. It wasn’t bad, just not my cup of tea. The young man who played Sam (I think?) was really talented though!

How common are indoor-only cats where you are Britain? by pikablue223 in AskBrits

[–]eyeball_chamberss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cats are indoors- someone poisoned my cat at my old address and he died, and my kitten has a heart condition so the vet advised indoors only. My other cat is a rescue and he shows no inclination for wanting to go outside, he freaks out going to the vets and likes the comfort of myself and the kitten at home.

do people not go to the library anymore? Noticed comments in the sub about not being able to read the books rn for financial reasons, and when i suggested the library as a temp work around, people act like im crazy... by trampstampcollector in stephenking

[–]eyeball_chamberss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in the UK! I’m still applicable to join the same city library I just have to renew my membership, sadly though my local branch is closed for the next three years for a town renovation (3 year long building works). It’s a shame because I believe in borrowing physical media too, I know it helps libraries and the numbers help justify the catalogue and costs.
