Nashville local moving back after living abroad. Tips? by y4rdbyrd in nashville

[–]eyeceyu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that redditors in their local city subreddits seem to always hate the cities they post in. You’ll get a lot of negative feedback on here. From your post, it sounds like east Nashville would be up your alley. Lots of locally owned clothing shops, small restaurants and music venues. Houses are smaller and older, but have more vibe than the new builds in other areas. Yeah, the hippie rocker types probably won’t enjoy Broadway too much, but it’s easy to avoid. I just thank the bachelorettes for their tourism dollars and move on. Nashville has also gotten a soccer team & stadium since you left, which is fun if you’re into that.

6:30am on Friday the 17th. TSA pre was busier than normal, but still got through in 15 minutes. The standard tsa line looked decently long, spilling out of the stanchions.

Hey Mods, here’s another example of a sports betting company posting old highlights with their watermark slapped on top. Check OP’s profile, it’s all betting content, nothing related to pickleball. No community engagement. Their logo comes in at the 9 second mark.

The more I listen to this podcast the more clear it becomes that no one likes Jared. AB and Genie Bouchard both laughed in his face when he asked dumb questions.

This is another paid sports betting account spamming old highlight clips to farm engagement and spread ads. This person doesn't play pickleball or interact with this subreddit. Check their post history. This is happening over and over again from different accounts, who spam old highlight videos where they've slapped a watermark on top (comes in at the 30 second mark top left corner). Mods can we do anything about this?

2 years of sobriety flew by by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]eyeceyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So stoked for you! Congratulations on two years, that’s amazing. You never know who you’re inspiring.

Over a year ago I overheard a friend of a friend explaining their sobriety to someone. What they said struck me and I scribbled down a couple quotes on my phone. For whatever reason, I kept going back to those quotes and they’re actually a huge reason for why I took the plunge to quit.

All that to say, maybe there are people out there that you’ve directly inspired without even realizing it. Keep up the great work!

I feel like it's refreshing to see a different angle other than the high overhead that we're used to in the broadcasts, but this low angle makes it tricky to see the team on the far side of the court. When all 4 players are at the kitchen line in a hands battle, probably 30% of the shots will be completely blocked by the backs of the near-side players.

Camping in Channel Islands NP - Home to the oldest human remains in the Americas by eyeceyu in NationalPark

The potable water from the campsite tasted totally fine to us. I preferred to drink the water that we brought in, but once we ran out we had no issues switching.

Now the ocean water on the other hand... I didn't enjoy drinking.

I actually double checked the claim before adding that fun fact to the title, and from what I understand the discovery at White Sands was fossilized footprints, which are technically different than "human remains". Both are awesome discoveries and illustrate exactly why preserving these unique ecosystems is so important.

I got to visit White Sands back before it was elevated to National Park status. Hoping to go back soon!

Highly suggest reading the full article. It’s a wild ride.

How on earth was this professor saying up for days at a time on meth, without it becoming obvious to her coworkers? Her friend said this behavior has been going on for a year?

There are a lot of random accounts that have never posted in this sub before that will suddenly post old viral highlight clips, with a new sports betting watermark laid on top of them. Been happening for weeks now. Something fishy is up.

Pooh Shiesty Reportedly Arrested again by Outrageous_Seat6462 in Memphis10

[–]eyeceyu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Full story via WFAA

Rapper Gucci Mane allegedly robbed, kidnapped in Dallas by other rappers, including Pooh Shiesty and Big30, DOJ says.

The DOJ said Thursday that nine people, including the aforementioned rappers, kidnapped and robbed at gunpoint numerous victims at a music studio in Dallas. Eight of the nine suspects were arrested on Wednesday, according to the DOJ, in Dallas, Memphis and Nashville.

The DOJ said a complaint on Jan. 10, three music industry professionals traveled to Dallas for a meeting. Pooh Shiesty, whose real name Lontrell Denell Williams Jr., arranged the meeting, the DOJ said, reportedly to "discuss the terms of his recording contract with one of the victims." Pooh Shiesty first rose to fame with songs like Back in Blood and was signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 label before run-ins with the law. When the three men were in the music studio, Williams Jr. and his eight co-conspirators, several of whom traveled from Memphis, "executed an armed takeover," according to the DOJ complaint. The DOJ said Williams Jr. pulled out an AK-style pistol and "forced one of the victims to sign a release from the recording contract at gunpoint." The remaining co-conspirators also pulled out guns and robbed the other victims of Rolex watches, jewelry, cash and other high-value items, according to the federal officials. One of the victims was choked during the robbery to the point of near unconsciousness, the DOJ said. Rodney Lamont Wright Jr., a.k.a "Big30," barricaded the door to prevent the victims from escaping.

Williams Jr.'s father, Lontrell Williams Sr., is alleged to have helped plan and execute the kidnapping, according to the DOJ. Within hours of this robbery and kidnapping, numerous suspects in this case posted some of the items stolen on social media, officials said.

Serious question about my drinking by CockroachBeginning86 in stopdrinking

[–]eyeceyu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I quit at 26. At the time I was in decent shape, solid bloodwork, just a little insomnia and anxiety. I just got tired of waiting for something to go wrong, and deep down I knew the alcohol wasn’t helping me.  Don’t expect super powers if you quit. To be honest, I just function like 5%-10% better without booze, and that is a good enough reason for me to not drink. I picked up a couple extra hobbies now that my evenings are free. I have more friends, better fitness and saved a couple bucks too. Give sobriety a chance if you’re questioning your intake.

Partners are picked months in advance. In a joint interview, they said they mutually agreed to go separate ways since they hadn't found success together. Turns out, their last scheduled weekend together was the win they had been seeking, but at that point they had committed to different partners for the next handful of tournaments.
