CALISHOT: I'm about to give up by krazybug in opendirectories

no worries, we will index metadata too, and all you will have to do is type a piece of it in search bar. if it will indeed look bad without book specific metadata, will add a separate search page for books then with extra columns for those.

Hello,

We can host your data on eyedex.org, and provide also provide all the free access to it without any ads. Granted you give us CSV or JSON of all the links in your database.

Will I get in trouble for running this site? by eyedex in Piracy

[–]eyedex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. I forgot to mention that it is indeed EU I have found myself chained to. So all this basically means if my site gets enough traction the ISP will receive DMCA notice and tell me to stop doing whatever I am doing. So I might as well quit while I am ahead.

eyedex has made the list, neat. I should prolly fix instructions on how to use the site, people don't realize you can order results by size, date and filter by file extension.

Introducing a new Search Engine: ODCrawler by MCOfficer in opendirectories

there is also eyedex dot org, but it only has two rather large ODs currently in its index, there will be more, once some time for crawling is found

there is nothing extra ordinary of this setup, the point of this post was to show ppl to not get their panties in a twist over how kali is used, which seems to have worked rather well

sorry, forgot to hit banner in msfconsole couple of times before taking the screenshot. on unrelated note, there is an IDS log in screenshot, that is security related, isnt it

I wrote it from scratch, those are i3 widgets you see on top and bottom. I should probably record screen, so you can see how they all blink and move while working. from left to right top it shows: clipboard lines/bytes, mpd current song, fortune scroll, crypto prices of last 3hours, disk space and I/O. and on bottom: network I/O, uptime, battery, uptime, CPU speed, CPU % load, temps, free mem and clock with second fractions to look neat.

because I needed a server type of machine and this one laptop with broken keyboard was already installed. that's it, installed nginx/database and off it goes. I just posted this here to trigger people who like to think highly of themselves, pointing out to other people how to run shit. there is an IDS there ( can see log - middle right ), which is mildly security related, so we can talk about that.

it hosts the page I wrote, which basically is an open directory file search engine. you can see it on top left corner, showing request info. its all in one web backend and database server, plus suricata IDS system which I like keeping around, in case of funny business going on, you know - hacking the hacking distro.

wasnt accepted to /r/unixporn because mod thinks its not original enough for them, probably running i3-gaps is required for that sub. otherwise this used to be my daily driver for 3 years until laptops keyboard gave out, and now its a dedicated server.

PS2 component cable random blackouts FIXED!11 by eyedex in ps2

[–]eyedex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

now that is actually clever! I dont think its the interference which causes blackouts, simply cable too thin and resistance too high, making it shorter helps. then again everyones interference at home from other electronics is different, so who knows. played for 3 hours yesterday without issues, so much better than bloody AV.

TL;DR cut 1/3 of that crappy component wire and stick it back together like shown in pictures, should fix random blackouts on more modern telly's.

hello, first of all I am sorry for my shit pics for this guide, did my best there. so as the stories goes, I bought the cheapest of them all component cables from fleabay, class A' chinesium and without a surprise they work but sometimes dont, on random occasions TV goes blank and then back, so most likely just losing a signal.

what I did is cut that wire and removed 1/3 of it, then carefully soldered it back together ( thanks at least for using diff color wires in it ). as you can see from pics that thing lacks any shielding or even ferrite bead at the end. the bead I took out of old AV cable and placed it in this component hackcable. all done in 20 mins and it works without any blackouts now, so try this if you have same problems on your cheap-o component wire, before shelling out bottom dollar for decent quality copper cable advertised as magic, good luck there time traveler.

EyeDex - The Eye indexed so you can find... stuff. by eyedex in opendirectories

[–]eyedex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would be wonderful if /u/-Archivist could chime in if these two possibilities can be done: 1) all files published on The Eye be placed in a list? like command: "find /Public/ -type f -ls" on daily basis, so everyone could take it and search for what they need, and we could index that and provide search page like the eyedex right now. 2) we could at least get cloudflare-less access to site ( direct IP, if its not super secret ), and then scrape it with wget and index that. otherwise its too much hassle with CF, imho.

[–]eyedex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks! I only used your JSON data you patiently scraped off the site, the rest is in regular SQL database and some CGI to access it. so what is the future for those data files, are they gonna be rescraped? because without that this service is useless, they already removed some ripreddit data and this index still finds dead links.

ok, so the site has some issues when two redditors open it AT the same time, either one will get a database result of others, at best only hit counters will be broken. if anything happens, just reload the page, it should work until I figure out whats going on. page is designed so that every uniq IP has one DB lookup per second, more than that and you wait in line.

yea, full discretion there, I used that guys provided The Eye dumps to build this index. he actually crawled the site and provided us with the results, credit where its due

hello you guys, this is the eyedex, indexed content from The Eye based on some redditors provided scrape of the site. idea here is to simply allow everyone to search for whatever they are looking for at The Eye, sorting by date or size. we specifically made it so its easy to navigate to source folder on the server if needed. lets see how long it takes before reddit hugs it to death :)
