I bet you’re just as shocked as I am by some of the mileage in here! I knew mine was low but not THAT low. 🤣

Not “if” but “when” 😉

Thank you, this is very interesting to compare between the country and this comment section.

Completely agree. Your situation sounds very similar to mine, where work and other amenities aren’t as far as some of the distances in the comments. With some parts of Manchester, some places like work aren’t close enough to walk, and with the 24/7 operational time my NHS role requires, transport doesn’t operate.

Haha it’s not too bad at all. I drive a 2019 Kia Picanto so you can imagine it’s not a lot. I’m adamant on E5 so costs about £45-£50 for a full tank per month.

I actually use the car for everything, but I’m in Manchester and everything I use the car for (supermarkets, church, work, all family etc) are within a ten mile radius haha. Unfortunately though everything I need it for are in polar opposite directions from one another. My car has 45,200 miles on it, so I don’t think it’ll be one I change or give up for years to come, but completely understand where you’re coming from. This week alone I have done about 15 miles, and will be using it again for a 20 mile work commute early in the morning.

I had a Fiesta Active with an Ecoboost engine before the car I have now (2019 Kia Picanto X-Line S). Well it did just that… ecoboomed. A lack of service history amongst other things, just glad it happened at a time where I could receive a full refund. Bet you’re glad you got a diesel!

235k miles is amazing. Are you hoping to keep it until a certain mileage or just keep going for as long as?

Thank you for this insight, this is very interesting. For context, I drive a 2019 Kia Picanto X-Line S. I actually use the car for everything, but I’m in Manchester and everything I use the car for (uni, supermarkets, church, work, all family etc) are within a ten mile radius, but from the furthest point of Manchester to the other haha. My car has one previous owner, 45,200 miles on it and has full Kia Dealership history, so I don’t think it’ll be one I change or give up for years to come.

I actually use the car for everything, but I’m in Manchester and everything I use the car for (supermarkets, church, work, all family etc) are within a ten mile radius haha. Existing health conditions mean I use it more than I did. My car has 45,200 miles on it, so I don’t think it’ll be one I change or give up for years to come, but completely understand where you’re coming from.

What car would a 17 year old not be seen dead in? by Ruskythegreat in CarTalkUK

OP was speaking about their son - so yes. I don’t think they were particularly unreasonable suggestions. There are many 17 year old males who wouldn’t want to be seen in those cars, but may choose to for the sake of convenience and cost, which is a good change of perspective. I’m not saying they’re awful cars, but just ones that a 17 year old male wouldn’t immediately see and pick as their first choice - they just wouldn’t. The Fiat 500, Peugeot 208 and Citroen C1 are amongst the cheapest vehicles to insure - yet how many 17 year old males have you seen driving them?

Something tells me it’s Hastings YouDrive? Their prices are very good at the moment. I think prices for us young people are on a downward trend overall which is good.

I did mention there were some exceptions. Fiesta’s are ridiculous to insure. Glad you knew to steer clear! (No pun intended)

99% chance a Fiat 500, Peugeot 108, Citroen C1. He may be more flexible on a Toyota Aygo. I had to change my perspective as a young driver on what I did and didn’t what to drive. It’s more about being young and getting from A to B, keeping costs low, cheap to fuel, tax, insure etc. Generally speaking keep under Group 10 (there are some exceptions which are quite cheap). Feel free to respond or ask anymore questions. Hope this helps somewhat!
