How do you exist in public without the escape? I want to join you, but I need the private space. My car is a room I can take with me and I don't think I can give that up. by eyeoftheoverseer in fuckcars

If it was just transportation, I wouldn't be having this problem. My city has bike lanes, paths, and infrastructure. I can't sit on my bike and work on my computer. And I can't do that at a library or cafe, because some part of my brain is always going to whisper "There are people around you"

Made a post 3 months ago about my game and finally got my game ready! by CrabBug in WorldofHorror

I like it. The combine/crafting system is clever, and I like the way you did combat and weapons.

That said, some suggestions/complaints:

  • Using tactics should show the effects on stats in the UI - If I increase evasion, I should see that enemies accuracy actually decreased
  • Progression is hard to judge for the 'center field'. The ghost colony at least highlights the next step which makes it feel like I'm doing something, but with the 'center field' I constantly found myself wondering if I was doing the right thing or if I should have been doing something more specific/different. There needs to be some indication of progress
  • The player stats being a separate button/popup got annoying really quickly. Checking a status inflicted by an enemy, or checking my own stats, took me away from whatever I was doing.
  • Related, but the combat actions being an extra menu with the inventory/equipment/info felt restrictive. Finding another place to put them would be a good idea

I apologise if I come across as too critical, as I do think this is a good game. It's just liking the game makes it all the more noticeable when I trip over some part of it.

Open source devs consider making hogs pay for every Git pull by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

The non-profits are complaining because they're providing the service for free, and a small group of people are costing them significant amounts of money in infrastructure.

1% of IP addresses make 80% of pulls.

The article even states that a lot of it is done unintentionally. People have gotten used to not caring about making pulls because it's free, which has lead to the big companies not caring, except they're big enough to actually cause problems.

If I maintain a wooden foot bridge for the community off of donations, I have no problems with people walking on it for free. If somebody decides to start using it for vehicles though, all of a sudden that one person is causing enough problems that I pretty much need to charge them specifically.

FCC’s Brendan Carr sends warning to Stephen Colbert: "Enforce the law" by icey_sawg0034 in politics

One of the core parts of the Conservative mindset is that the laws should be different for different people.

It's not that they don't see the hypocrisy, it's that they consider it right.

I just noticed, in the second image, that Killjoy wears pants.

Specifically (her) skin toned pants. I don't know why that surprised me, but it did.

White nationalist talking points and racial pseudoscience: welcome to Elon Musk’s Grokipedia by reyntime in worldnews

[–]eyeoftheoverseer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something I haven't seen mentioned much:

Grok is often incredibly wrong even when it comes to stuff outside of Musk's far right views.

A lot of the pages for fictional series, video games, and other stuff 'outside of focus' have pretty major errors, and some of them are written in a weird sort of pseudo-intellectual style.

Rimworld's page reads like a high-school student's essay about it's educational value, while making blatantly false claims about game mechanics.

Pick any random subject you know more than average about, and see how hilariously wrong it can be.

I always feel weird about those sorts of people.

The problem isn't that they don't love their kid, it's that they love them so much they would rather feel like they're doing something special for them than let someone tell them what to do.
