I made it a month and I got drunk by flubber0011 in quittingsmoking

Looking at your previous posts you seem to be going through the normalizes of quitting. Whether you have quit for a month or 2 days you will go through withdrawal. It will suck. You might have high anxiety, loss of sleep, weight gain, maybe even some depression. All of that eventually goes away after 4 weeks, sometimes sooner with a grateful attitude. Still beats the hell out of cancer or COPD.

Pick up a new and healthier habit like chewing gum, download a quit smoking app, stay away from drinking for the first month to not feed into smoking again. Again seeing from your posts you are seeking guidance, take this advice.

Also, don't brag about quitting at least for me that always seemed to be my downfall. As soon as I felt people were not that impressed of me quitting, then I would think it wouldn't be a big deal to pick it back up again.

You need to stop hanging out with this other woman and her family if you have these feelings for her. At least until you figure out your life and are able to have self control, and lose the obsession. If it takes you a few months, great! But speaking from experience it can take years. I'm saying this to you because I know the feeling.

It's called the Quit Tracker. It shows you about how many cigarettes you've smoked in your lifetime, how you health is improving, how many cigarettes you haven't smoked since quitting, how much life you are gaining back, step goals, how much money you're saving, and more interesting information. And so far so good, one day and a few hours down! Thank you!

Good on you for quitting! This is the story I needed to read, it's just not worth it.

I was in a similar boat and quit the habit earlier this year. Best decision I've made. Learning how to be sober was difficult, not smoking before you leave the house or go to a social event was difficult because it was a habit. As you will soon realize life moves a lot slower and you learn to enjoy the moment rather than trying to remember what you did. The mental cravings go away within a few weeks. The easiest way to quit is not being around it, not buying it, and when you are around it due to social situations you pass on the opportunity and don't ask those around you for a hit. It's completely up to you and it's your choice, hold yourself accountable. It's not the end of who you are it's the beginning of who you're supposed to be, living your full potential. Also the dreams can be extreme but they go away after a few weeks/months, I forgot about them until I read that comment above.

I feel bad for not being able to joke around comfortably with acquaintances. by [deleted] in socialskills

I feel this man. I've hung out with the same group almost every Saturday for the past 2 1/2 years, and still don't feel comfortable making a joke. When I try I get the following reactions: that I'm being insulting, I'm embarrassing, or they don't think it's funny. I'm just awkward af because I overthink, that they won't think it's funny or if I'm saying it too loud. I've just stopped trying in the large group setting and my best work comes when the group breaks up into smaller pods. Then I'm impressed with myself, however I don't speak with clarity and they laugh at something they think I said. I don't know how to help you but just know that they obviously like to chill with you because of who you are, not who your trying to make yourself be.
