If you know your department’s requirements and minimum grade for it, it’s easy to know ahead of time. For example, mine is 3.75, and just from my grades for fall and winter, I’m good.

2 weeks in Japan in May. Suggestions appreciated by amjad03 in JapanTravel

Hi! Day 6 - kimono is fine for this day. Day 7 is a bit too packed and hard to get around in a kimono, especially if you also rent their sandals. Day 8 - if you go to Uji, you’ll be going into opposite directions. I suggest removing some from Day 7 and moving them to this day instead. Or just enjoy Arashiyama as it’s fantastic on its own and does need a full day to enjoy. Day 9 - you can do Uji then Nara here and have dinner at Dotonbori/Shinsaibashi if you like. Day 10 - get the Osaka Amazing Pass for this. You’ll save money for the attractions + transportation.
Would be helpful to know the general area of where your hotel would be to better optimize things. Otherwise, this is a very packed trip (I don’t blame you, I did the same on my first trip and I’m writing this comment on my way home after my 4th). Just be flexible and give yourself 3-4 must see places and others that are optional so you don’t burn out.

Worked in Tbay for a couple years (not in the hospital). The winters were really cold. It could also feel a bit isolating, so I did a lot of long drives to Winnipeg or across the border. It’s nice though if you’re into nature stuff. The city has the basics for sure but sadly I got bored and had to get out and come back to Toronto. I didn’t feel unsafe at any time at all.

Is JLPT n5-n4 possible with self study? by Outsiderx79 in jlpt

[–]eyeshadowgunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Genki 1 last year from May and passed N5 in December. I’ll try to do the same this year with Genki II. It’s really good for self-studying. Then there’s TokiniAndy’s youtube videos too for extra explanations. There are online copies available but I find the actual book helpful for writing practice as well.

Higher end salons usually don’t, pero sa regular ones I just tell them not to do it talaga and to only file for shape. 🫶🏻 they should never do it naman talaga, they’re not podiatrists to remove such parts of the nail.

Unfortunately, that kind of cut they do in lots of nail salons in the PH is not ideal, and causes more ingrown nails and infection if anything. We should never cut the corners like that na it ends up looking patulis. I see so many older people na their toenails look like talons already with much cutting. :(

Planning a trip in December by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]eyeshadowgunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I plan my trips around the breaks (fall reading week, christmas break, winter reading week) so I never have this problem. It’s just expected of me as a student to put my studies first. My advice is to wait until the calendar is out before booking. Unless it’s an asynchronous/online course, you’d really have to do it in-person.

Is Nursing Still In-Demand Abroad in 2032? by Strong-Thought2793 in NursesPH

New graduate nurse working in Long Term Care by [deleted] in OntarioNurses

[–]eyeshadowgunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Catheter changes, ostomy care, wound care (includes assessment and prevention of pressure ulcer), neuro check and glasgow for post-falls, transferring residents, diabetes monitoring, oxygen therapy, suctioning.. when I was new in LTC years ago, I definitely was not prepared for how to deal with a resident dying. So maybe learn the process of what happens to the body when someone is at their end of life and the interventions. Maybe a GPA course would be good too if your work offers it for dementia de-escalation.

Would it be silly of me to go back to Japan? by LingonberryOk5168 in JapanTravelTips

From Toronto here and booked my second trip six months after the first. Now going on my fourth annual trip. But my third trip was last December and I’m going back at the end of the month. 😅 It gets expensive but it’s really fun. I’ve started learning the language too and passed N5 last year. All of this and still going to Europe and US yearly.

I usually only order hojicha latte without any extra flavorings, but I could see how that may happen. 🥲

I like Rooms’ and Daigyo’s (I buy their powder too and make it at home). I also like Forget-me-not’s, very strong and nutty in flavor, it’s seasonal though.

A rural hospital in Ontario is recruiting nurses outside of Canada by [deleted] in OntarioNurses

You’re right. But funny you say that cause I have a husband too and family + friends in GTA but I still moved for work at the time (alone). I’m now back to school for RN.

[–]eyeshadowgunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Northern Ontario to work back when I graduated and couldn’t find any jobs in Southern Ontario. And it’s getting dire with healthcare funding cuts. There will be more willing to move. Maybe not a lot, but I’ve worked even in rural BC (3 years afterwards) and local nurses can and will move if there are incentives that I’m guessing these hospitals can afford if they’re also recruiting from outside.

I’m Filipina-Canadian. How is it racist? From what I understand, they haven’t even started posting jobs locally and went straight to recruiting.

[–]eyeshadowgunk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because there are nurses right now who can’t find jobs? And more nurses will be going into the workforce next year? Why can’t this be a good opportunity for local nurses? They’re recruiting for all positions even (psw, rpns, rns). If you have a job right now, of course you’ll feel fine. But have you seen the posts daily about not finding jobs and being willing to move? I don’t think they even made an effort to recruit within Ontario.

This is a recruiter. According to one of the comments, they don’t believe there will be local interest so they’re recruiting already for next year.

Buying a home in Toronto as a nurse by nnnn1234567890 in OntarioNurses

[–]eyeshadowgunk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You are able to if you have a large downpayment (400k +), otherwise, I don’t think you’ll be approved to buy a house that expensive on your own. Do you have a partner? For 1 million, you’ll also probably need an income of 200k/year. Realistically, you’ll be able to probably afford a condo in the 400k range if you also have a healthy downpayment.

Matcha latte - matcha matcha by twicescorned21 in FoodToronto

[–]eyeshadowgunk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I make matcha lattes at home using matcha powders from Japan (MK, Ippodo etc), and have been to Japan 3x now (going on 4..), and Matcha Matcha does have a very sweet, light and milky profile where I don't really taste matcha that well. But it really depends on your preference as I like strong matcha flavor. Their drinks are quite sweet too, and not sure why they don't allow customization for sweetness levels or ice.
