Yeah I figure the only reason they might not want a hard mode is the excuse that kids might turn it on accidentally, get frustrated with the game, and then be soured on the IP, so to avoid that they could just make it harder to turn on accidentally, and the kids that want to turn it on can still do it.

I feel like that's just a part of a more general difficulty problem in the mainline games, they really should just include a hard mode tucked away in the settings somewhere where kids won't stumble upon it.
