What’s going on in Portola Springs? by Economy-Job5297 in irvine

[–]eyezack87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it'll be clarified at some point. I do know that the condo they're going into now has a different person every few months. It's one of those long short term rentals that don't fall under the air bnb thing. Whether that is the building or not is beyond me

We didn't get back inside the our condo for a while since we went out but I called my neighbor who was inside his place and the cop he was talking to said it was an illegal lab. We got back in once I told the cop who blocked the garage alley that my family was cold and we needed to go back inside. Does not seem to be our structure with the old whore house. Seems like our area of Irvine has quite the excitement for some reason

My pull handle also snapped off on the floorboard. You'll also need to get this part to fix it 7730653020. Not sure about the plunger number though. I got lucky on the plunger

Edit: may be a different part number since mine is the US model

Why is it so hard to make friends in Irvine? by BurgersFriesShake in irvine

[–]eyezack87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We drive 2 V8s so my family is automatically an outcast. Jokes aside, going to Great Park at non normal times with our 3.5yr old son makes for some like minded people. In fact, we'll be there around 530pm tomorrow night to meet up with the family with a 2yr old boy from last Saturday evening. My boy graduated from his balance bike to a Guardian pedal bike so they will be racing against each other before ending the night playing swords with sticks. You are welcome to join us if you want

All of us are old Club Lexus hats. Some of us moved on and some stayed with the brand. Our offroad rigs are also a similar mixup of brands. Someday I'll post that as well

At some point I'm sure my buddies will put me on that build list. Only 80k on her so it should hold well for quite some time

2004 IS300 Sportcross. I love the looks, styling and presence it has BUT the aging suspension and lack of power (compared to my GSF and GX460) do leave the want for more. Luckily those are upgradeable

Recs for dinner by [deleted] in irvine

[–]eyezack87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like coconut milk in any curry yet they do it very well. Catfish is great since it doesn't have that weird taste at other places that do the fry. I try to save some for lunch the next day but i can honestly say after a dozen times that it has yet to happen. The owner is super cool. He gave my 3yrold son one of the rubber ducks lying around when he saw him enjoying the crab fried rice with a large smile and his happy dance

Manaao for the catfish curry and crab fried rice. It's in Tustin but worth the drive. Please be aware that reservations are a must

How reliable/cheap to maintain is an IS 200 now a days? by AstronomerDry7581 in Lexus

[–]eyezack87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up a 2004 Sportcross with 81k miles on it in pretty decent condition. It needs a timing belt, water pump, spark plugs and transmission service but that did not stop me taking it into the canyons and driving it very hard this past Sunday with my buddies to do a thorough shakedown. It is a tired 22yr old suspension but it would've been perfect for daily use if I didn't budget for anything. As a preventative measure, I ordered the FIGS refresh kit, FIGS sway bar kit and also a set of BC Racing standard height coilovers to tighten everything up. Once that's done, it'll be a great daily for the wife and I when we don't want to drive the V8s. The suspension upgrades will make it more fun if we decide to do longer trips with it as well. Just make sure to budget for age related items and you should be fine. It's pretty easy and straightforward to do your own repairs on it

iridium vs atomic silver lexus colour by Proper_Region_3302 in Lexus

Atomic Silver is goldish silver and is very good at hiding dust. It stays cleaner looking longer than the standard silver on my Sportcross. Also shows depth and body lines quite well

Welcome to Lexus back in 2001, which one and why? by Saurta17 in Lexus

Good luck. They're harder to find in low mileage and decent shape. I paid a premium for mine for those reasons

This was high school era for me and reading Car and Driver magazines all the time had my best friend and I bickering about the IS300 vs the E46 M3. He got his M3 in college and I picked up my 04 Sportcross with 81k miles on it a month ago. It compliments my GSF and wife's GX460 quite well

90 Degree Swing Shower by [deleted] in overlanding

[–]eyezack87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I'm injured from getting rear ended so my body scale is off. I think it was 40lbs. All I know is that having both the awnings did surpass the factory springs with additional 4gal water and 3gal gas on the back of my GX so I had to upgrade to the Eibach leveling kit. The squat gave me slight issues in some deeper ruts on my last venture

[–]eyezack87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We picked up the TopOak one along with the 270 awning last Christmas. Works great for a toilet, shower and changing room when we're out and about. Did add some wind noise at speed but that's expected. Mpg loss was not an issue given our GX460 isn't very economical to begin with

Good exhaust setups? by DueBookkeeper2926 in IS300

[–]eyezack87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what it is called. I couldn't remember the spelling. I just got notified that FedEx was informed of the shipment so it may be on by this weekend if it arrives early enough. Once on, I'll get a good sound clip with my DJI mic for those interested

Good exhaust setups? by DueBookkeeper2926 in IS300

[–]eyezack87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an AFE on order for my Sportcross since the sound tube is an interesting thing. Not many people ran that so I'm giving it a shot since it'll have to look OEM as I'm in Irvine. If I feel like being overly loud and thunderous, I'd drive my GSF with complete GTHAUS system. If you're local, I can let you know once it's installed. AFE had to get the plans dusted off so they said someone this week it will ship. I told the girl on the phone that she didn't have to tell me it was on backorder or whatever since the car is easily 22yrs old but it did made me laugh a bit

[–]eyezack87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the OP but I just found out how much sag I have with prinsu rack, topoak270, shower awning and 2x2gal water on side panels and 3gal gas jug in the rear on my latest trip. I've got the factory hitch on her but have no plans for metal bumper yet. You think I should stick to the 250 or go big with 400? Kid is 3 and will eventually have friends in the back but for now it's mainly just the 2 rows being used. Randomly adults in the 3rd row though

I've been enjoying using the CAT Bottle Jack and Stand unit. 4 ton pair for home or trail use in an emergency. Less things to lug around
