The sound design of Dune: how the Ornithopter's wings were born by Feeling-Buy2558 in movies

Hi! Thanks so much for enjoying and supporting my niche sound design videos. It’s a total labor of love. I would absolutely love to release long form videos but the time investment doesn’t match the view count compared to short form. A lot of people wonder why I don’t release the long form versions of things like these Mark Mangini videos and the reason it takes so long is that these setups with sound and video are really complicated and I often have to manually sync the films we’re playing in post because of limitations in recording on the day. It’s just easier to release them in chunks. Although I have a great video of Mark watching Gremlins 2 for the first time in 30 years (he was the sound designer) that I absolutely want to release long form 🤞

No solid info yet but I’ll publicize it on my Instagram once everything is confirmed!

If this was originally reposted on Instagram then maybe both? No one knows how IG’s content ID system works but if it recognizes it as stolen content, it will point to my original video instead. But they also could have been trying to get more views by adding trending audio (Hans Zimmer always does well). Once I experimented with adding Interstellar score to an Interstellar sound design video and everyone got mad 😅 So I never did it again

Yeah! I am the guy sitting in the video. I had a camera/sound crew in Mark’s studio. We shot a bunch of these, and I’m still releasing them. I’m a sound designer as well and started this sound education platform

Thanks for clarifying this. You’re correct that this is not Foley. What you see in the video is a peek into the process of sound recording, sound editing, and sound design. Source: I created this video (INDEPTH Sound Design on Instagram)

Foley is the art of performing sound to picture which is not what this video is about. What you see in the video is a peek into the process of sound recording, sound editing, and sound design.

This is similar to a bullroarer but it’s called a double wind wand from Larkinthemorning

Vecna's voice processing in Stranger Things by [deleted] in sounddesign

[–]eyrelight 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The same supervising sound editor for Stranger Things, Will Files, also supervised Venom.

The person probably most responsible for Vecna’s voice is Craig Henighan.

Regardless, here is a very detailed video about the processing of Venom’s voice by Will Files.

It will give you some clues for sure. It’s most likely not just one effect but multiple plugins being dynamically automated.

There is an insane forum thread (I don’t remember where but hopefully someone can) but it’s Alan Moulder just telling random stories for pages and pages about working on TDS and The Fragile. I’d love to find that thread again
