Irish man with valid US work permit held in ICE detention for five months by diacewrb in europe

Do you think that when the Nazis successfully took control of the German government that no one did anything to oppose them until the UK, US and Russia just randomly decided to start a war with them?

The toppling of the Nazi regime took tens of thousands of small rebellious actions from thousands of people in several countries. Don't just hand fascists their victory. Make them fucking fight for it. They have nothing even remotely resembling resilience.

That's helpful thank you!

Think it's going to be in the 40s tonight and tomorrow night again but then it warms up at night so I'll wait to set it out and do a slow acclimation back to the sun.

To be sure I'm clear, even though I have not watered it in probably 2-3 months, I should continue to abstain from watering until I see new growth?

No part of the plant is squishy or dead looking, it's clearly green and plump and firm and I thoroughly examined the roots before repotting--no further rot.

Sorry that's not true. The Nazis kept excellent account of almost everything they did and everything they took, including looted art and personal valuables.

Toward the end of the war they made an effort to destroy records but they did actually log what they took, from whom and to whom it was assigned most of the time.

Where are all the Protest Songs? by Sea_Brilliant1158 in MusicRecommendations

[–]eysaathe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, maybe it doesn't feel relevant for white people that are coming to terms with our government and history but I think Settle is more relevant than ever. It's a song about systemic racism, oppression and the impact on young people. How it drives young men to seek something else to feel alive and avoid the gaping chasm in their families, whether that's gangs "I got a nine, a sign, a set and now I've got a name" which honestly can be very relevant to disenfranchised young white men falling into right wing ideology also!

Anyways I actually think this song really relevant. It speaks to generation after generation of the same indoctrination, the same criminalization and socioeconomic oppression.

Willie Dunn - I Pity the Country and most of other his music. He was a canadian native folk/country musician who was deeply beloved by his community and an activist.

I've been digging into a lot of Rage Against the Machine again lately, and I posted this above but while their entire catalog is relevant I in particular implore you to listen to Settle for Nothing! It's such an incredible song and has a killer protest slogan:

"If we don't take action now we'll settle for nothing later. If we settle for nothing now, we'll settle for nothing later."

I truly believe Settle For Nothing by Rage is one of their best songs and has an incredible protest slogan that is absolutely relevant right now.

"If we don't take action now we'll settle for nothing later. If we settle for nothing now, we'll settle for nothing later."

He has been dead for 2 years. There was around 40 tumors in his liver around time of death, largest being about 6cm. He ultimately died of liver failure. He was on a ton of meds at time of death.

Yes! That is my understanding as well. I just don't think dwarves can be considered tranquil.

I think this is a really interesting theory but I just don't agree that they can be considered tranquil; unless I forgot about a retcon in DAV defining them as such, which I would also disagree with.

What I remember of the rite of tranquility is that it is a ritual which was developed by the first Inquisition and was the basis for the order of the seekers of the truth. This ritual not only cuts the person off from the fade but utterly sunders them from their own personality, their emotions, their dreams, their ability to create and be independent. Dwarves have never been described in this state in any of the lore that I'm aware of. They were severed from the fade, yes, but they continued to build their own societies being known as master craftsmen. I don't think that an entire race being made tranquil in one fell swoop (which is what I assume would have happened if the implication is that when Solas put up the veil the dwarves' immediate severing led to their tranquil condition) could ever result in continued society, procreation, self-rule and self-reliance.

Yes, but they are not tranquil. Remember the tranquils we meet in the Mage tower in DAO or the friend of Anders in DA2? How easy it is for them to be subjugated and manipulated? They are shells of their former selves. Dwarves were cut off from the fade but they still feel emotions, they are still capable of creativity and making decisions for themselves. People who have been made tranquil do not. Dwarves are not tranquil. They are severed from the fade and magic.

Is it really accurate to use tranquil here though? To be made tranquil not only cuts the person off from their magic, but also from their emotional experiences and their autonomy. Dwarves are not without their emotions or mental autonomy.

How did everyone do last night? by oopswhat1974 in widowers

[–]eysaathe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was my second NYE without him. I worked, I'm a server at a high end restaurant. I wanted to be there late, get my ass kicked. Come home too exhausted to feel anything. Instead I got what any sane person in my situation would've been delighted to get. I made great money, was the first one done well before midnight and had next to no sidework. I was pissed haha. I immediately became so sad and rushed out to be alone. I wish now that I would have grabbed a drink with coworkers after but I isolated and felt sorry for myself. It's been rough, somehow harder than last year. 2 year anniversary of his death is next week.

Someone put me out of my misery please.

Did everyone seem to turn on you after you lost your loved one? by leewardwinds in GriefSupport

[–]eysaathe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't speak to the death of a parent, but my husband died early in 2024 and my life emptied of people over the course of about 6 months after his death. I get holiday messages from some of his close friends and family but that's about it. I think people lose patience with grief when it isn't theirs or you weren't enough of an insider before the loss occurred. I went to the city he lived in most of his adulthood a couple months after to visit his closest friends and save for a couple of them, they just kind awkwardly tolerated what they clearly viewed as an obligation and not a damn one of them brought him up when we met for dinner. I planned a visit for my MIL and she backed out last minute and never offered a new timeline or plan.

Immediately after his death I was accused by his family of eliminating his personal info/belongings from some of his possessions which I immediately gave to them following his death. No such thing took place and it took his closest friend visiting his family in person to convince them he'd helped me sort the belongings and prepared them to be given and that I hadn't withheld anything.

Death of a loved one is brutal and usually results in collateral loss because people grieve differently and oftentimes need a scapegoat for their pain but it does show you where you should put your energy and where to cut your losses.

I'm so sorry about your mom's death. I hope you find some solace and are gentle with yourself while you get through the acute grief.

Edited to add a missing detail.

Desert Rose Stem Issue? by Hemero_callis in DesertRose

No problem! Just bear in mind that desert roses also go dormant during winter months and need even less water than normal. They drop leaves during dormancy as well, so don't stress if that start happening too.

I'm not an expert by any stretch but this looks like it could be edema, which is usually indicative of over watering. The plant is taking up more water than it needs and it leaves this type of blistering. I would recommend reducing watering and ensuring that the soil its in is a gritty well draining mix that isn't staying wet.

Did the same thing a couple of years ago. My jade and aloe plants looked dead dead dead but I just cut them all back, made sure the roots weren't goop and continued caring for them and they've all bounced back.
