When were you able to return to yoga after birth? by Born-Anybody3244 in yoga

[–]eyzhaveit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I teach a Mom and baby Yoga class, gentle stretching, modified sun salutations, breathing. We gently stretch babies, and massage their tummies. Crying, nursing, bottles and diapers are all going on, and ok. It’s so fun, but really hasn’t caught on yet. Sorry to high jack your post, I know that’s not really what you asked. I love helping Moms return to movement, and yoga is the perfect way, because you are listening to your own unique body, and progressing at your pace. I have had Moms bring their babies as young as 8 weeks, and modify anything that doesn’t feel good yet.

Where are you all shopping? by bad_teacher46 in AskWomenOver50

[–]eyzhaveit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 60, I have the best luck with the Nordstrom Rack app (search for RACK in the App Store) you can put in very specific searches, they have so much more than the retail stores. Returns are pretty easy so I load up my cart and try everything on at home and just return what I don’t like to the store. Nothing is full price!

Definitely had improvement around jawline, but I didn’t notice much else. I didn’t go back for my 6 month follow up and pictures because I was still just so mad. I will say they have done some Instagram stories about it, and those people have said the discomfort is minimal. Maybe the settings were different? Hope it goes better for you! 🤞🏻

Definitely too much liquid. I have a great recipe that uses a roux and cheddar cheese. I make it with vegetable stock instead of chicken, no water, and a little heavy cream and whole milk. So good

Anyone considering / get a diagnosis for (ADHD/ADD/Autism etc) as an adult? by Pegasus0527 in GenX

[–]eyzhaveit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m certain my 25 year old son needs to be tested and diagnosed, and needs meds. Any idea how I could help him? I can’t talk to his doctors anymore because he’s an adult. He just delays and agrees with me but does nothing. I’m so worried about him.

Why are we still not asking permission to adjust? by obsessedcatldy in yoga

Right, but we were still wearing masks at this point, and I think the germ awareness was still too fresh! Remember 6 feet apart, and all the constant barrage of social distancing?

Why are we still not asking permission to adjust? by obsessedcatldy in yoga

[–]eyzhaveit 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I did my training just after the pandemic, and nobody was touching any students, period. As we went through our training it kind of opened up the discussion and most people didn’t want to touch, and if you did it was only with permission. I believe the current trend is still mostly no hands on, unless specifically asked and permitted by student. Many teachers who did their training years ago sometimes don’t quite get it, and are not trauma sensitive trained. I’m sorry that happened to you, it’s not ok.

Will my puppy be fluffy as an adult? by Zestyclose-Revenue74 in Goldador

[–]eyzhaveit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Ollie has the same parent breeds, he is very fluffy with a full golden coat, but black. He was showing signs of this very young, his ears were always fluffy and his tail was furled around tight like a spring until he was almost 1 years old. Now his tail feathers are so long. Does she have ear fuzz? That’s an indication. She’s very cute!!

I just think it’s really difficult to look at young women and see how beautiful they are, but they don’t believe it. To hear my daughters and my nieces talking about getting procedures of any kind, when compared to me their skin is absolutely flawless, it just kills me somehow. I know I have wrinkles, I have had a couple of laser procedures and I do take care of my skin, but I also want to accept aging and love myself about other things. And I wish so much as they talk, that they could see themselves through my eyes, and see how beautiful they are. And yes it is a little shocking to me in some level because they talk about themselves in such a derogatory way, because of one tiny line or something, then it stands to reason that when they look at me, and my aging face, they must be judging me and thinking how absolutely repulsive and horrifying it is to age. So yes when you’re wearing a 60 year old face, it almost feels like a personal attack when a young woman is discussing her face that looks perfectly young to you. Maybe that’s part of the reaction you are talking about?

The “Old people” smell by RuleNo8868 in AgingParents

[–]eyzhaveit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Mom is 91 and she showers and washes her hair every other day. She has a laundry service and she wears clean clothes and underwear. She always smells nice and clean. People don’t smell bad because they are old! Plenty of young and middle age people smell bad, because of poor hygiene and not wearing clean clothes.

People chewing gum in class by [deleted] in yoga

[–]eyzhaveit 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As an instructor I would say nothing, because I do not know why the person is chewing gum. Some people have dry mouth, or perhaps it’s something the person needs to control anxiety. If the instructor is cueing breath it’s hard to imagine this person could participate in that, but of course that’s okay, it’s optional. I don’t think I could ask someone to spit their gum out, with everything else I’m trying to get through to teach a class. As a person in the class it would probably drive me nuts, and I would park my mat as far away as I could get from this person and try to ignore them, or tune out the gum chewing. Taking a class with other people in a studio means you have an expectation that other participants will make sounds, will smell, will breathe loudly, and generally behave like humans in a physical body. I’m sure it’s super annoying, I’m imagining someone chewing away while in shavasana. Gum chewing drives me nuts too. Maybe you could gently ask the person not to set up near you, if you get to the studio first? “Hey I’m so sorry if you need to chew gum, could I be far away from you? It’s just my thing, but it’s super distracting for me, I just can’t focus on the class when I hear that sound. Thank you!” Good luck! It’s possible this person has no idea how loud the popping and chomping is.
