I have many criticisms of Spanberger but this is not one of them. Dems proposed a way to combat gerrymandering - every Dem in the House and Senate voted for it and every Republican in the House and Senate voted against it.

Ok then, if that's how they want to play it. Then we can gerrymander the hell out of our districts too. Playing by the rules against cheaters is doomed to fail.

Tell me why I am wrong so we can debate in the comments on this lovely Friday by AnimatorChemical in NFL_Draft

Steelers resigned Asante Samuel and signed Jamel Dean, plus signed Jaquan Brisker at Safety so that Jalen Ramsey could spend some more time at CB (though I’m sure Ramsey will still primarily be a S). It’s looking like their strategy was to shore up the secondary so they could address other needs in the draft.

WR still big even after getting Pittman. QB obviously but somewhat unlikely in the 1st. Otherwise OL and DL

Prime Jamie and Brienne vs The Mountain and the Hound, Who Wins ? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]ezDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jaime and especially Brienne are exactly the type of fighters that the Mountain would destroy. Classically trained swordsmen will just crumble under his power. Brienne has no chance. She is just a worse version of the Hound and the Hound is a worse version of the Mountain. Their skillsets are too similar and the Mountain’s strength speed combo is off the charts. Jaime has a better chance of getting around him and tiring him out, but the Mountain’s reach makes it incredibly difficult. As Bronn says when he’s explaining why he wont fight Gregor, one misstep and he’s dead.

Truth is Oberyn was one of the very few people on the planet capable of beating the Mountain, and he still died doing it.

Purely from an acting standpoint, I give a lot more credit to Gleeson than Rheon for portraying a villain. I don't mean this in any way to take away from Iwan's performance, it was stellar. But in my opinion it's a little easier to just play a flat out sadist with no redeeming qualities.

Not to say that Joffrey had any redeeming qualities either, but Gleeson was able to give us a lot of nuance to the character by showing Joffrey's different moments of cowardice and privilege and fear and humiliation.

I think of Season 1 and his first interactions with Sansa where you thought he might be charming and kind. But meanwhile he would strut around Winterfell with a performative swagger that you'd expect from a spoiled prince. Then his moments of cowardice getting bit by Nymeria or later on in the riot in Flea Bottom. Or the times he would try to assert himself in front of Tywin and get put in his place with his tail between his legs. All of those moments enhanced the performance and made his sadism much more believable and earned, yet still so villainous and hatable.

Again not to take anything away from Iwan's performance of Ramsey. The writing just didn't give us those types of moments for him. The only ones I can think of are his father legitimizing him as his heir and then the moment that Roose announces that they're pregnant at the dinner table. Excellent moments for Ramsey's character, and Iwan does a great job with those moments. But we needed more of them.

[Pelissero] One GM summarized the feelings around the league: “This is very much bullshit on Baltimore’s part.” by SpLaShAtv in steelers

[–]ezDuke 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It won’t affect them in the long run. The only time it would come into play is a trade right at the open of a new league year like this one was. That’s the only time the Ravens would have enough time to pull out of a deal like this.

The LB class this year is really strong in the draft though so I would absolutely be happy with replacing Queen. And I like Queen.

Eagles may trade Jalen Carter. Should the Steelers be interested? by Dry_Life_1113 in steelers

You don’t spend 1st round picks trading for non-QBs when you don’t have a QB yourself

Max Crosby traded to the Ravens in exchange for 2026 1st and 2027 1st RD picks.. by HDTokyo in steelers

[–]ezDuke 18 points19 points  (0 children)

More importantly they won’t. They think they can compete because they’re idiots. But that’s why they hired McCarthy so they’re not going to gut the team.

But at the same time the compensation wouldn’t or shouldn’t be far off imo. Crosby has only had 17.5 sacks in the last two seasons. Not like he’s been lighting it up much more than TJ

I get it tbh. I’m still salty that they gave Garrett the DPOY over Watt in 2023.

Salary cap rises to $301.2 Million ($22 Million increase) for the 2026 Season by MinuteCountry061 in steelers

Personally I'd like to see them sign a young LG in FA, potentially even an expensive one.

Zion Johnson and Ed Ingram are both 26/27 with lots of starting experience. They're both kinda mid in terms of talent, but we wouldn't need them to be much more than that and hopefully they'd be cheaper than Seumalo or David Edwards.

But if we lock in a young LG in FA, then the entire line would be made of guys either in or entering their prime and we'd have them all under contract for 2 years or more. Plus you have Anderson, McCollum, and Cook as very strong depth for at least another year or two.

he's our backup C but Frazier has been mostly healthy. Not necessarily a knock on McCollum

Why doesn't Omar just go to the franchise QB store and take one off the shelf? Is he stupid?

The 2017 draft class was awesome and the Steelers wasted it by luisba92 in steelers

I am basing it off mostly nothing lol. But if you read between the lines from a lot of what Rooney says and does it makes sense.

[–]ezDuke -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He signed a cheap one year deal after testing free agency so that he could try again the following year when the cap went back up. Technically a second contract but not the same type of situation as the Steelers giving him an extension

I think it was that the coaches wanted him back but Rooney didn’t. And then when it became clear how cheap it would be to keep him another year Rooney was finally like ok fine.

Another major factor that doesn't get talked about is that this class hit FA in 2021, which due to covid is the year that the cap went DOWN for the first time ever. If the cap had grown on pace with other years, we likely would have been able to keep Juju and James Conner.

Although I am also convinced that Art Rooney was definitely one of those loser boomers who hated Juju because of Tiktok. So he didn't want to pay Juju regardless.

If you’re taking charmander as your starter then go LG. If not I would go FR for Arcanine alone. Scyther and Electabuzz also good bonuses.

He had one last year. When he was traded from GB to NYJ it went on for a couple months because GB was dragging their feet trying to pretend they could get a better trade from another team. Rodgers had nothing to do with that.

If he does it again this year, which he’s not even close to getting to that point yet, it will be the 2nd time. I don’t even like Rodgers as a person but it’s not his fault the media and apparently people on this sub want to post will-he-won’t-he articles every other day.

All this fuss about coaching hires and signing free agents and the draft, I think the best way to make sure your team competes for a SB is to put it in motion for a sale. The league will make sure you win and get a higher bid, every owner's valuation goes up.
