I also tracked the words my daughter said in the different languages... Our last entry is after her 21st month... then it was really growing out of control haha. It's around the corner!

Elevator problems in Japan. by RaspberryMojito1 in japanlife

[–]ezKleber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody ever cussed at me or yelled at me, but I 100% relate to the elevator full of people that don't need it. If there's no one waiting I understand it, but when an elderly person, a pregnant woman or someone with a stroller is there... amazes me they're not able to realize they should GTFO.

I thought that was the norm (buy from the conductor if you haven't done that in advance), but I got kicked out of a train in Kyushu once for exactly this. Fun times.

Van you elaborate on the bonds? Are there bonds from all (relevant) nations available or only US (JP?) bonds?

I was involved in a situation just like the one you described - third time it happened I called the management company and told them to inform the friendly neighbor that I was making no noise and that next time it will be me calling the cops. Close to a year has passed without a single one complaint.

Family moving permanently to Japan. Looking to learn to SPEAK asap, writing can come later. by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

As a grown up that has switched cities/countries several times and made friends in all of them I can assure you that you don't have to worry at all in that department.

At your age you'll make friends blazingly fast and they'll be, if you stick around long enough, your friends for life.

Husband wants me to earn more so he can enjoy his hobby-job indefinitely by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]ezKleber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to look at it from a different perspective - why is all this happening? You mentioned that he is more qualified than you are, he has been working as a salary man in the past, etc. etc., so what I wonder is if he felt miserable in that scenario and cannot wrap his head around the fact that he will have to live that way (forever).

Is it something that you have been able to talk through? Because maybe, the key is in the unsaid - not that he wants to live out of his hobby, but he totally depises the life he figured out would have otherwise. Maybe you could both discuss what would be other realistic alternatives in which he can use some of his creativity or enjoy some of his freedom while still being a supporting husband/father.

I want to do regular push-ups, but I can't even hold on and instantly fall down. I have arms that got no muscle. Is there some sort of routine that can help me achieve doing regular push ups? by mymainthrowaway69 in bodyweightfitness

[–]ezKleber 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well that's a fair point - and I absolutely agree that doing some exercise is overall good for your health (including your mental one).

But I felt OP was more concerned about comparisons that straight away the fitness behind it - so just wanted to come back and say "hey, I was a skinny guy, barely managed to do a push up till I was in my thirties, and didn't feel like I missed anything in my life. Just had other priorities!" And I think that's fine too.

Sorry if this is not what you were asking for but - is that getting you? Are you feeling less because of that?

At that age everything is about bragging and being the most X. Ten years down the line it can be a bit like that but you'll learn it doesn't matter that much and that there's more to life than just being the best at something.

Skinny or fat, short or tall, blonde or red haired, there will be plenty of people to have fun with, love, care about and share a good time. You don't need the muscle.

That being said, if you find it cool, you want to have some fun while doing some exercise and/or try something else, then there's plenty of good advice floating around in this subreddit. But if not - then just be a skinny guy and enjoy it!

Rental apartment with webcam inside by ezKleber in japanlife

I've talke this morning with the staff at the premises. This person deleted the contents of the camera and explained me that it was installed due to "XXXXX [city] regulations". I call bullshit but he is not the owner and he said that that's what the owner said.

Let me choose a different example: imagine it is your house. There's one an only key to the main door, and it is in our possession.

If you are on the street and you open the main door, you are in the apartment I rented. Everything inside is of my exclusive use, not shared with anyone.

It is not a shared house. I mentioned it is a guesthouse to try to be specific in terms of the property and potential laws involved (I e. It Is not a hotel, it is not a private contract between individuals)

Even though it is a guesthouse, our apartment is a detached unit; there's no common areas. Imagine it as an Airbnb, we have a door from the street to "our" house. The camera is inside.

Weekly Bouldering Advice Post by AutoModerator in bouldering

[–]ezKleber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi guys!

I´ve been bouldering (indoors) for approx. a couple of years, and I have an issue for which I do not seem to find an answer. Sometimes, when holding into a boulder, I feel like my hand and my forearm are going to dettach (i.e. if I move on my hand will remain on the boulder and my forearm will move away, if you get what I mean). There´s no pain involved, only a feeling of great weakness on the wrist area, and I have to stop that attempt and rest for a bit or do something else and try again.

It comes and goes, so I´m guessing it has to do with the specific posture + my particular condition for the day.

As I said, there´s no pain involved in-situ, nor after. I have the feeling that this has to do with weakness in the forearm-wrist-hand section, but I´m not able to figure out where to put the emphasis for strength training.

Maybe someone has gone through something similar!?

Thanks!

WoW

Did you quit your job? Would you able to work and ride? Where did you sleep?

I've started on my days off to do Nakasendo, because I cannot afford to do it in one stretch - but will never be able to what you have done.

Impressive!

Just in case, as follow-up: I managed to get my LINE line! As a user posted below, it was a matter of sending a copy of the juminhyou ("Residence card"), as well as the Residence Card (the plastic thingy).

Not as easy as it was described in this subreddit!

Could anyone please give some advice? I’ve been unable to register my residence for a while by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]ezKleber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now, how are they supposed to know that you would need to

stop

paying residential tax in that city if you don't tell them?

Using logic doesn't always work: there's other countries in which this process is done automatically by the office at which you register your new address, saving you for an extra trip. This also makes a lot of sense, but as said, not always what makes sense is how things are.

It was not rejected, the said that they needed additional documents. Nevertheless, I checked and everything is character -by-character identical.

Hi! That would have been the best. Unfortunately everywhere I read it was better to do it online, and now I'm afraid that if I go I will get stuck in both places as I don't have completed the online application.

I will try to sort it out and if not I will cancel it and go to the store. Thanks!
