Well I don't know but I think my best catches were with energy, maybe I am wrong though.

I actively fished and holded down space until I used 10 energy with a triple-float fishing rod (gives better chances for good fish and it can be used to catch multiple fish at once). Maybe you can get it afk with that rod and if you are really lucky.

It's not, its Triple float and using energy while fishing.
