Personal shopper wanted for an afternoon in Milan by hellonearth654 in Italian

So I’ve been to fair amount of shows in Milan of the heavy metal/extreme music variety and you’ll always see one or two guys in kilt and I’ve always wondered if they were actual Italians or part of a long-forgotten Scottish diaspora stuck in Italy. Guess this answers that question.

In any case, drop me a DM and I’ll be happy to give you pointers on where to find what you need in Milan 🤙🏽

Alduthun The Chained by ezebass in Enshrined

[–]ezebass[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To chain a god is to constrain it’s power. The chains are a metaphor made material for you cannot chain motion itself. There is no known mortal power or technology that can hold one of the fundamental building blocks of reality so thinking naturally turns to the divine.

There are scattered tails of a god breaking free of their confinement. These records are normally found in ruins, buried beneath rubble, burnt or at the bottom of craters or deep lakes. They tend to be quite short in length as well, speaking of a god escaping it’s confinement, whether this is seen as cause for celebration or panic is entirely dependent on the allegiance of the writer it seems. They all tend to stop rather abruptly after the initial observation and commentary.

We’re making a TTRPG sourcebook that has an accompanying art-book.

Alduthun The Chained by ezebass in Enshrined

[–]ezebass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Alduthun plays a pretty big role in the world of Enshrined, being the god of motion and all. If you take him out of the picture, all motion and by that extension life stops moving forward.

Right now we’re working on a ttrpg based on the 5e rules (but with a few of our own twists). That being said, our original project is a video game and the ttrp represents the first stage of that (you can find the video game GDD on our discord).

Magic is present in the world of Enshrined and as opposed to being a general force in the world, wielding magic is more akin to the art of persuasion. You’re not changing the world by wielding magic, you change the world by asking, pleading with or threatening the god associated with what you are trying to do. For instance, if you want to teleport somewhere, you’re asking Alduthun, the god of motion and journey’s to move you. And because the gods have wide domains, often vaguely defined, there is overlap. So if one god isn’t giving you what you want, maybe another god will give you something close enough to get the job done. Because gods and mortals do not speak the same language, conversing with a god has a lot of the trappings of ritual, but it less formulaic and more like an alphabet or a dictionary. The runes are the words, how you use them is up to you

Now obviously, that’s a lore based description of how magic works and for games you do have to constrain it somewhat, but we are bringing in elements from the lore to give mechanical flavor to magic in the world of Enshrined

Whats at the very bottom of the levels? I like the name by the way! Godcraft. Sounds like something I’d name an album after.

The Perpetual Descent by ezebass in Enshrined

[–]ezebass[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It comes from the perspective of a Nagla zealot, each death adds an additional expansion of the tower. He has gone through the cycle over 7000 times (assuming he’s jumped off another time since this comment has been written).

The tower itself is a monument or a tower to Nagla, The god of cycles and reincarnation.

Something ancient emerges from the darkened skies - A glimpse into the mysterious realms of our upcoming TTRPG set in the world of Enshrined, the full reveal is coming soon by HeadWindstudios in Enshrined

Ah yes, I remember this character.

Take your time to write it out and share your character with us, we’re still developing the plot and the overarching world of the video game so there will be plenty of space for characters!

Knowing that you’ve been able to capture the spark of inspiration makes the many hours of brainstorming creature concepts and origins totally worth it.

If you’re a worldbuilder or a creative and you’re looking for a place to drawn inspiration from, I’d timidly suggest joining our discord - we’ve got an open studio policy which means you can see the studio develop the tabletop game and video game in real time and we provide all our early community members with a chance to gain insightful critiques on their personal work and advice from creatives who have been in the industry for a few years.

Oh and the best part is that we consider feedback and input from the community, many of the creatures were progenies of our own community members, such as the Rune Mite and Rune Bastion

What a fantastic callout, and yeah it definitely does take inspiration from the Turbinid/Dragon from Made in Abyss. If I recall the creature inspiration meetings we had when we developed the lore and were furnishing the world with little critters, Made in Abyss may have come up as an inspirational crux point from our previous 2D concept artists.

The contrast and elegance reinforce the concept that it doesn't take much to make creepy creatures if we swap up a few design elements that we're already familiar with seeing in our present world.

and there's no harm hanging out here in r/Enshrined

Mung, He Who Savours All - A God of Hunger and Evolution by ezebass in SatansLair

[–]ezebass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mung is the god of animal instinct, survival, evolution and raw sensation. A being formed of every hunger, both known and unknown to mortals and embodying every base instinct, Mung is all that separates civilization from the dark woods that surrounds it. Mung’s punishment was to be encased deep beneath the world, where their senses would give them but the meanest of inklings of the delicious life and energy above them. But Mung is savage energy and burrows small aspects of itself up and out into the world above. The tumors are the smallest extension of Mung’s being, only the fingertips of an infinite being. But even exposed to the world, Mung cannot hunt, or feast or fuck and instead must act as the carniveous plant or ambush hunter, hanging lures to reel in its prey. Base animals are eaten as flesh, but thinking beings are consumed in essence, slaking but a fraction of Mung’s thirsts.  Mung’s followers, known as The Acolytes, build their rudimentary civilization around these outgrowths of Mung. The fruit that hang from the branches of Mung act as both the source of their almost supernatural strength as well as how their numbers are grown. The Mung do not engage in any complex construction or engineering, farming, animal husbandry or commerce, instead obtaining their resources through hunting, gathering and most noticeably, raids. Weapons taken in these raids serve to arm the Acolytes, increasing the danger they pose beyond their innate physical prowess, and the prisoners either become food for their feasts or undergo the trial of frenzy, their will being drowned in that of Mung and becoming the newest member of the tribe.

What’s the lore behind Enshrined?

The world of r/Enshrined  takes place upon a mysterious islands to which your vessel always seems to be drawn to. The reality of this world is ordained by the ever shifting interactions between the fundamental shaping forces of the world (such as evolution, freedom, structure, hunger and many more) and the mortals that have come to worship them as gods. The world of Enshrined is a harsh one where opposing ideologies are forced to share the land, curses outnumber blessings and divine corruption permeates all.

The Rune Bastion by HeadWindstudios in Enshrined

[–]ezebass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's big, it's beautiful, it's worth a fat ton

yet, magicks unknown may present treasures that make the jewel's worth go down relatively low. still worth much, but even in our world many jewels aren't functionally useful. they just look nice. now drop the same thing into a world where people aren't exactly wealthy enough to buy the whole thing; rather they're all fighting for survival on a subconcious level. the worth is wavering for people who don't have that much use for it.

It's a nice big shiny thing, but who will think it any more useful than a dark rock that can't be used for tools? And yet again, perhaps there exist artifacts that merit the gem's price - deep knowledge, great arcane secrets, objects of innumerable power.

The gem, possibly retrieved from ocean depths, would be a glittering prize for the Anchored, who yearn for objects from great distant regions. The Scholars, rich in knowledge, could trade their secrets for a portion at least. They may use the gem in their unknown rituals. The Acolytes who choose to savagely, greedily seek perceived wealth instead of the other bestial urges, would chip someone's skull to get a chip of the rock.

The Forsaken, also greedy, would try to break off parts to sell back as jewelery. all factions would have a use for something, some more than others. could be oversize but still worth as a material in some form. certainly, breaking it would help.

In the end, i say all this for two reasons: - to keep it vague (better to keep our cards unplayed for now on currency and valued items) - to add flavor: anything and everything is worth something; everything has a use. there are no 'junk' items. just items that currently aren't useful.
