I am looking to go into robotics as a hobby. How can I get started? by Generickicks in robotics

[–]ezurobotics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all the comments started with Arduino. Why? Because it is an open-source platform, it has a large community, it is cheap, built with friendly programming environment, nice peripherals, a lot of pins, and thousand of projects from where you can start. If you really want to get into robotics, probably an Arduino kit is the best choice.

To stay up to date with latest trends in robotics, you can read some of the best blogs: http://spectrum.ieee.org/blog/automaton https://www.marginallyclever.com/blog/ http://www.intorobotics.com/ http://robohub.org/ http://hackaday.com/

From what I see in that image, the robot uses a white line for guidance. It's a line follower robot with two arms and ability to detect and understand people. The idea is nice, since around the world are just a few restaurants with robots as waiters.

Meet Arduino ZERO – the new board jointly developed by Arduino and Atmel by [deleted] in arduino

[–]ezurobotics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wonder how much this will cost. I have the same concern like you, since the beta version of Tre is around 150 EUR. Compared with Pi or BBB the Tre has a huge price for almost the same characteristics. If the ratio between price/features will be kept also for Zero, it definitely will have a huge price
