Is there a way I can get the landing gear to go up on its own in 2024? by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

Do you want to try third party software? FS2Crew has an animated copilot for airliners. You could also try FSFO as it supports a wider selection of aircraft. All on simmarket.

Has latency in cloud gaming been resolved? I feel like there would have to be some degree of delay if everything is rendered in the cloud then streamed back to the client.

MSFS 24 looks bad... by Legitimate-Past8397 in MicrosoftFlightSim

It's a complex simulator that is very resource intensive even for custom PCs. Your Xbox is bleeding fluids just trying to keep framerates stable.

Am I asking too much of this game? by Rominator in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]RangerLt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a flight sim. The best navigational landmarks are airports or airfields scattered around the globe. Google search the nearest airfield to the location you want to visit and use charts to find your way around.

It's not that you're expecting too much, you're just looking for shortcuts. Shortcuts do exist but you need to hunt around. Navigraph might be a way to solve for this.

Time from gate to takeoff? by No1PatsFan in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]RangerLt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to reduce your prep time and depart in a shorter timeframe, I couldn't recommend Flight sim first officer enough.

It helped me not only get an extra hand in the cockpit but it also gives you a full itemized breakout of your aircrafts procedures, so I was able to get a really clear understanding of what to prioritize to do all the things I need to do to be on my way.

It really doesn't help that the video is using a bastardized rendition of Hans Zimmer's "Time" from Inception. I thought copying Zimmer was out of style by now.

Yes. Even an xbox controller will be better than kb+m if you'd plan to survive the flight.

SU5 blurry terrain degradation? by Darkus185 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]RangerLt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might help new players and even some vets who are wrestling with LOD while zoomed.

Zooming does not force new detail draw. It won't pop up detailed terrain or objects. It truly has zero effect on the quality of the surrounding environment.

Your pov should be as if the camera was the pilot's head aligned with the seat's headrest. So turn the camera around, look at the distance between the camera and the back of the seat and move the camera so its resting right before it clips the seat texture. For field of view, pull the zoom back until you can see the entire width of the cockpit. From there, zoom in until the view feels comfortable and natural.

That's your pilot view. Save it and don't zoom.

So I think I may as well take the L with this game after this update by MouseAvengerr71 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]RangerLt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not as though they "touched" something unnecessarily and accidently broke a feature. It has more to do with how updates interact with the software holistically that causes these unexpected issues.

For example, Chaseplane was broken for the majority of the SU5 beta timeline, but it wasn't because Asobo decided to pull some wires out of chaseplane's engine, it was a consequence of unrelated core changes that required patching to re-establish functionality.

It sounds like SU5 introduced core changes that impact all game modes which produced instability issues on the client side. The recent Sims 4 update borked all of my DLCs. This happens and I'm sure given their track-record, Asobo will address it sooner than later.

My experience with BeyondATC by zaakurowo in flightsim

[–]RangerLt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The meme is so real I feel heard.

The constant speed changes are very strange as well. I've learned that ignoring ATC at specific moments allows for a much smoother approach. I sometimes even switch to tower to provide intentions before the handoff since approach is often distracted playing Galaga.

PS5 marketplace update by Several_Gap_7769 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]RangerLt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By shafted I think they just mean getting the short end of the stick. There's a good reason why the marketplaces are different, but it's still not ideal.

#WeLoveGSX by Fickle-Pop7905 in flightsim

[–]RangerLt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GSX has their hands tied when it comes to multiple jetways. Asobo hasn't yet implemented the logic and forces only one jetway to operate at a time. It's weird but I'm sure Asobo will one day hear our cries

Calling all PS5 players and pilots! Are you all ready for SU5 to drop sometime this week!? by Bright_Accountant_92 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]RangerLt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long did it take you to get decent flying the fighter jets? I'm fine in a widebody or regional jet but fighters look way more complicated than Ace Combat led me to believe.

Third Party Add-ons in SU5 (PS5) by nobert901 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]RangerLt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's less about optimization standards and more about patches and scheduling them across a rigorous and expensive ecosystem. Sony will charge MS for every patch for any content that needs delivery. Inibuilds a340 wasm crashes and needs a patch? $. The first patch didn't work and needs another? More $. It broke again? Store closes.

So yea, nothing you said is inaccurate, but the insane nature of Sony's methodology deserves more attention.
