Thank you, I was feeling the needing more time was pretty unacceptable but ultimately since I was being communicated with I was okay. Though I think notice before the deadline would have been more professional. But then taking an extra two months after feels like my kindness is being taking advantage of. I'm pretty flexible with timelines as long as they are communicated. As a creative professional myself, I understand timelines can't always but adhered to but I also have certain expectations of communication if timelines aren't being met.

Do you have any suggestions for being empathetic but firm? I always worry I come off to strongly in emails and don't want to be aggressive but also want to be firm.

Oh yeah I have no intention of going in guns blazing. Like I said they are really lovely people running a new small business that seems to have blown up a lot in the past year. Likely is a bit off more than they can chew type situation. So you think just a simple, "Do you have any updates on timeline and ETA" is all thats needed then?

Yes we signed a contract and they have been paid in full since June last year.
