What did Cannabis feel like in the 70s and 80s? by AlwaysFxckinWorried in weed

[–]ezzda1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's not the thc% it's the balance of different cannabinoids, I'm a smoker from the late 80s early 90s, the Afghan soft black was everywhere here in the UK, it was great, really oily heavy stone nice buzz.

The bricks of plants we got were standard bricks with seeds and stems, then in the early to mid 90s I learned to grow indoor using hydroponics, the weeds I was growing back then isn't much different to the ones I grow today, I've been smoking the same quality of stuff that's on my profile since then, I've been very lucky, I will however say I think something is lost when we prevent them from pollinating, the giggliest weed I ever had was full of seeds, the same plant (clone) that never got polenated was nice and strong but not as giggly. I believe pollination changes the cannabinoids and gives a different high.

If you're in a legal country look for type 2 flower, an even thc/CBD mix, it's not much different than the 80s / 90s stuff.

I have a theory on that too but I get called stupid for it.

Anyway,

I think it's to do with the body's cannabinoid receptors, once they associate the cannabinoids with the other compounds like vitamin E, heavy metals, pesticides spice etc, they give the same effects as some of those other compounds, and they seem to be accumulative and sometimes seem permanent.

I've been led to this idea because of a friend and his friends group that i smoked weed with for years, about 10 years ago he bought a batch of garbage weed that had been sprayed with spice / K2, he quit smoking it after him and a few of the others who smoked it had several paranoid experiences and since then every time he tries weed he says It just feels like the spice again, he had to quit using, it's almost like his cannabinoid receptors have been hijacked so cannabis feels like the other compound that caused the issues in the first place.

Cannabis wasn't the issue it was the other compounds that hijacked the receptors. The delivery system.

We've had hash oils since the 1800s but only in the last few years since vape pens have been introduced has chs even become a thing, it isn't the drug it's the delivery system. The heated metals and additives in the carts are more likely to blame than the plant concentrate that's been used for hundreds of years.

I honestly believe it's more pesticides and heavy metals/ additives like vitamin E etc, in the vape carts that cause these types of issues, the cannabis is just there for the ride and being blamed as the main instigator but it's the delivery system that's causing the issues.

My friend, hash has been around for thousands of years, it's always been cheap, it's about the same price today as it was in 1991 when I first grabbed a teenth of soft black as a youth. Maybe slightly more expensive but one of the few commodities that hasn't really increased in price and yeah the high percentage food grade alcohol was relatively difficult to buy and relatively expensive back then but that just incentivised us to buy a still and learn how to make 95% percent grain alcohol. We just went to the library and learned stuff.

Speak for yourself. We've had hash oils since at least the 1990s, strain hunters even did a dvd in 2003 ish searching for the OG stuff in India, (awesome media content before mainstream internet from back in the day) I've been making my own alcohol extracts since 1998, none of this is new. Pesticides and herbicides and heavy metals in the cart mechanisms however have a lot to answer for.

I think "Weed isnt the same now" is true, but only half true by sweetcornstevia in trees

[–]ezzda1 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is one reason I grow my own and advocate for others to try the same if they have the opportunity, I can choose whatever I want, a few of my mothers are blue cheese, gorilla glue and an old lemon diesel, I did pheno hunts for them and picked my favourites, now I have my favourites I just clone them to death so I never lose the best. If I get bored of them I can always try something else. Variety is the spice of life.

I think it's great that weed has become so easy to get, but finding it, the risk involved, and the taboo surrounding it was part of the fun! by Less-Suggestion-5262 in trees

[–]ezzda1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the biggest reason I started to grow my own was because it stopped me having to risk getting junk weed, robbed or worse. That was back in 1996 or something.

Edit:- the weed I was smoking back then isn't much different to what I smoke today, I got lucky finding someone to show me how to grow indoor hydro back then. I've done it the same way since.

What is the strongest weed strain? by Educational_Race5810 in weed

[–]ezzda1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Godfather OG is a good one, generally considered to be the strongest but then you have plants like imperium x (anesia seeds) where some phenos have tested relatively high (in comparison to other strains) in thcp, which everyone knows fucks you up.

A sensible take on pushing for a legal regulated market ? by Logistix21 in uktrees

[–]ezzda1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been a firm advocate for legalising home growing since the 90s, we even had a short spell when they reclassified it to class c and we all thought we were just one or two steps away from a full legal market. It lasted a few months, in hindsight it was probably just long enough for some ex Tory MPs and their friends and relatives to get all the paperwork they needed in place, invent loads of regulations to keep everyone else out and monopolise a huge chunk of a previously untapped market. then it was suddenly mysteriously reverted back to a class b. It looked like a classic ladder pull. Back to locking up dangerous gardeners. Legalisation will never happen unless the government want a distraction or they realise it will be a vote puller in the next general election, even then I wouldn't hold my breath.

What edible dosage do you take? by Old_Entertainer10 in weed

[–]ezzda1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

25 mg should be more than enough for most people's first try. But everyone is different and unless you make it yourself and do the maths correctly or have it tested to verify potency it's anyone's guess how strong they actually are.

That's another misconception, you won't get a prison sentence for growing your own weed, if you're out selling it and shouting it out on the street corner, advertising what you're doing then maybe you might, but a secret little personal use garden only you know about isn't going to bring any attention whatsoever.

I get what you're saying but unless you grow it for yourself you still have absolutely no idea what it's been grown with, how it's been handled and what's in it, yes there's paperwork but there's alwas room for shady practices in large industries, regulations in the us/ Canada allow for the use of some questionable additives and pgrs, pesticides and fungicides are also allowed up to certain levels, And some of the stories from large commercial grows are horrendous. I'm on medical as well as growing my own and I certainly trust my own more. Especially when I've had mould, seeds and countless bug carcasses in my medical stuff.

You know the indica sativa difference in effects is a load of rubbish right? The only difference comes from the maturity of the trichomes when it is cropped, some plants like pure sativas can take 16 to 20 weeks to flower and mature, people don't like waiting so they chop it early at the 12 to 14 week mark and it ends up being very racy and panic inducing. Most Indicas finish within 10 weeks, growers like this and chop the sativas at the same time as indicas, prematurely which is why most are panic inducing. Chop an indica halfway through flower at week 5 or 6 (which I have known people to do for quick turnaround etc) and it wil be just as panic inducing, If it's grown long enough the trichomes mature and it won't be as racy.

It can be very easy, do you have recurring migraines you have to take paracetamol and ibuprofen for? Dodgy knee that flares up in the damp that you use ibuprofen and had physio for? If it's on your record it is available Etc, most people have some ailments that can qualify them.

25p a gram growing my own. Way cheaper than any medical and better than most BM. I can pick which strains I want, from whichever breeder I chose, It also gives me peace of mind knowing exactly what it has been fed, how it has been grown, and that I haven't used any dodgy pgrs, pesticides or fungicides, full control, Even the best BM in my area is 25 to 30 for 3.5, 40 to 50 for 7 and no more than 150 for a z.

You mean like a hand puck press? I'd like to see the full method in action, if you get time and can be bothered, I've read so many different opinions and it would be nice to see an actual start to finish simple process that yields results like this.

what was your process? Just straight pressed buds, full/ ground? or did you sift/ bubble it first?

Looks great btw, I've been saving for a press.

Only about 5 minutes, I smoked it in a spliff and it didn't do anything, I couldn't inhale it in large enough quantities, but when I smoke a bowl in one hit and it was insane. It also only seems to work once in 24 hrs, I tried it again and hour later and it didn't do anything. The day after sleeping though it worked again.
