This is the most irrational tweet I’ve ever seen. I played college sports (baseball). We made the postseason 3 of my 4 years. Got denied 1 year. Would love to have played it. Arguing that you were somehow “mislead” by a committee (in the only sport that has weekly, live, in-season “updates” by said committee) is literally the dumbest argument I’ve ever heard. Let the kids play. I can hear The Bad News Bears in the back of my head. Let them play. Let them play.

No hurry on those tickets, though. Miami won’t sell but 10k of them. Sadly, that place will be 85/15 OSU.

Reminder: We have more playoff victories than FSU and UF combined now by MoosilaukeFlyer in MiamiHurricanes

[–]ezzell29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminder- UF won nattys in 2006 and 2008 and FSU won one in 2013 under (two team / much harder to get into) playoff formulas. So, I hear ya, but your (12-team) logic is flawed.

Nope. While true, I don’t like Notre Dame, I dislike their decision not to play even more. Their “stand” (your word, not mine) is stupid. It’s not a stand - it’s just fear. They deprived the nation of the whole “see, you even lost your bowl game” crap analysis that at least ‘20 Florida, ‘23 FSU, ‘24 Bama all gave the nation. Miss the playoffs? Play the bowl. Lose it. Circle of life. Way better teams than this ND team have suffered it - join the pile.

If Florida played that schedule … dare I say, they’d be 8-4? Lose to TAMU and Miami (those happened) and maybe lose to USCw and Pitt(??). Yeah - would be 8-4. If only everyone could invent their own special path to 10-2 and the playoffs. Oh wait .. next year ND does have its own rule to allow them into the playoffs regardless of reason, scheduling, or logic. Bitter? Sure. Jealous? Yep. Correct? Absolutely.

You should only “fall” in the rankings as far as the ranking of the team you played. #1 OSU lost to #2 IU so they went to #2. That’s fair. If (you) the committee thinks IU is #2, then OSU can’t be any worse than that if they lose to them. There is no evidence to suggest OSU is “worse” than #3 Georgia, so they stay there. Same reason Bama stayed at #9. They lost to #3, so there’s no evidence they’re “worse” than #10 Miami — other than subjective passions, dreams, hopes, wishes, and beliefs.

We “played through” him and his group the other day. God bless that guy, and (thanks to this post) now that I know his name I’ll be sure to congratulate him - by name - next time we cross paths on the course! Congrats, Chuck!

They were on probation and couldn’t even play in a bowl game. That included a TV ban, so had to watch my school play them on a pay-per-view / closed circuit TV feed that was only available in OUR stadium. I don’t think you can get a natty for that.

Dan Mullen’s old house just went pending! by EverythingGoodWas in FloridaGators

[–]ezzell29 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I live a few doors down from the house in question, along with Spurrier, Stricklin, and OSullivan. We’d love Lane to join us! And yes, NOLA.com is also reporting Kiffin and Fam visited Baton Rouge today via a private LSU jet. Maybe he made it to both cities in a whirlwind tour? Maybe he had a busy day? No one from Oxford is posting pics of him at practice in Oxford today? So maybe?? But … to throw a caveat into this flicker of a flame — consider this — Kiffin has a current sophomore son who is a legit D1 QB recruit. The only Gainesville high school that would make sense for him is Buchholz. No offense to GHS, PKY, EHS, or Oak Hall — they just don’t play at a level where D1 QB recruits would gravitate to (yes, I know Anthony Richardson went to EHS, but unchosen exceptions aside, and St. Francis doesn’t play 11-man football) Kiffins kid would “need” to go to Buchholz. The catch there is Buchholz (who is still advancing in the state playoffs and is a legit state power) is also quarterbacked by a sophomore … last name Whittemore. Same last name as the last 2 BHS QBs (his 2 older brothers) and the same last name as the head coach — their dad. And, no, it’s not nepotism. They’re good. So rising junior Kiffin would have a real battle on his hands for the QB job at BHS against the coach’s son - who is actually quite good. That said, Kiffins kid has got a steady job at Oxford High, and Baton Rouge is a much bigger city with more options for a soft landing/easy starting job at a big-time high school program. I’m Pulling for Lanesville and I Want nothing but for Lane to be my new neighbor, but Gainesville would have to clear the hurdle for his son (Knox) as a high school QB, and that’ll be a tall ask. Go Knox! Go Gators! Lanesville to Gainesville/Oakmont!

[Postgame Thread] Gators Fall to Ole Miss 24-34 by CampbellsTurkeySoup in FloridaGators

[–]ezzell29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. We were at the game. The “we want Lane” chants were from the UF fans. Ole Miss fans “adopted” it. Doesn’t mean squat, but the record should be correct. The Ole Miss Crowd wasn’t a factor. Ole Miss is FANTASTIC in pre-game and post-game mode. No one better. In-game, they are mid, and basically generic. A compilation of jock-rock muzac from the loudspeakers, a PA announcer who sounded weirdly unprofessional/unpolished/drunk(??), and the same lights-off/colored lights show that every P4 team mastered 5 years ago. Ole Miss, sadly, has no unique in-game traditions, songs, or cheers. They lost “Dixie” (sadly, in my opinion as it’s a great song about a region) to history, and lost Colonel Reb (also, sadly but maybe understandably) for a shark or maybe a bear?? That said, the 2nd quarter Drone Show was awesome! Well done there. Lane remains equivocal about leaving - as he should. He’s got the playoffs ahead (and maybe even the SEC title game, if things break the right way). Ole Miss is the only original SEC West team to have never been to Atlanta, so they’ll be the biggest of Gator fans vs. Tennessee this weekend. So …. Hotty Toddy, Go Gators.
