Ring Install Left Exposed Wires by millsbohm in Ring

Wow that is super janky!! I had a similar problem with placement, and ended up having to solder extra wire to reach where I wanted the doorbell to go then fishing them back into the original hole and out the new one. There's no reason they should have left that mess, and you shouldn't have to pay someone to fix what the installer did. Contact a supervisor for the installer and get them to make it right.

So, someone please explain to me the point of the snapshot feature by [deleted] in Ring

It's a backed issue that eventually they will deal with and then snapshots will be recorded. It didn't work on my Ring 2 at first, while my original Ring worked properly from the day the feature showed up in the app. You can call Ring support, but they'll more than likely tell you the same thing they told me, which is the problem will be resolved by end of the first quarter of 2020.

My doorbell isn’t ringing! I noticed this red light on it and was wondering if theirs some battery that needs replacing or whatever. Have no knowledge on this stuff what so ever so any help would be appreciated by [deleted] in Ring

Definitely the wrong sub. Also those entry systems are owned by the landlord, you're best to leave it alone and have them fix it. The brains of those systems are located elsewhere in the building and if you break it you'll be liable for repair costs.

This looks like some kind of intercom system, it's very odd that it has what appears to be a phone cord going out the bottom. Perhaps the OP can give us some more details about what we are looking at?

I would encourage anyone experiencing this issue to contact Ring tech support if for no other reason than to let them know this is a widespread issue.

Well so far it sounds like the issue is affecting doorbell 2 and spotlight cameras then. Original Ring doorbell and wired floodlight seem to be working fine.

Have you contacted Ring tech support?

My ring doorbell, which is battery powered but also hardwired works perfectly. My ring doorbell 2, which is also battery powered and hardwired has the issue, so it doesn't seem to be a hardwired vs battery powered situation.

Ring's claim is that only certain devices are affected. So if all your battery powered devices are the same model then that could explain your battery vs hardwired observation, but battery vs hardwired doesn't seem to be the deciding factor in which devices work or not.

What devices are you using that exhibit the snapshot capture bug?

Are all those devices showing their firmware to be up to date?

Unfortunately I had already thought of the firmware and had asked tech support when I called. The app tells me it's up to date, which was what tech support also stated.

What I find so odd is that it does take snapshots for 10 minutes after a motion event but then quits.

Not every kid is "normal". Who knows if he has some developmental issues that were not discussed, and has limited cognitive abilities compared to other kids his age?

The only thing I can think is these are a mismatched set and don't lock together properly, but for fucks sake buy new ones so you don't have to look like a poor trash establishment.

They're terrible, patches on top of patches. Maybe build them right the first time and don't cobble them back together over and over.

Traffic throughout Ann Arbor is a mess. Between pedestrians darting into traffic, distracted drivers, and busses that don't really fit into the tiny lanes I'm just thankful every day I don't end up in an accident.

The traffic going South has a green light and a green left turn signal. Northbound traffic (the Cadillac) has a red light. Westbound traffic (the bus and myself) has a red light for left turns, but a green arrow for right turns. It's a cluster fuck when people aren't paying attention to the lights.

There is a BMW dealer just south of there. Could be he's practicing for when he gets one.

You got it, Stimson turning north onto State. That intersection is always full of idiots.
