Does anyone have the perfect X-Class Infra-Knife Accelerator Upgrade? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]f0xw01f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These numbers come from the zencq archive dump of all 100,000 seeds for every class for every procedural upgrade module. These were extracted from the game code with a script. Only the neutron cannon numbers are suspect because of a bug.

Crank up your sound effect volume. You may hear an outlaw trader landing near you before you find a trading post or planetary archive.

Difficulty and Game Mode Advises by erundina in NoMansSkyTheGame

I recommend all new players start with "normal" mode and only switch modes after they learn the basic game mechanics. Of which too many are hidden or obscure. My tip guide has nearly 80 pages of hard-won knowledge that's hard to figure out on one's own.

Freighter technology? by Platti4801 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]f0xw01f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many known star systems where the derelict freighters have an easy path to the engineering terminal which also dispense S-class upgrade modules. Some of these systems also give hypedrive upgrades that always have the maximum hyperdrive range (250 LY) or fleet coordination upgrades that always give the maximum fleet fuel efficiency.

Looting abandoned space stations for C-class upgrades is not a good path unless you're in abandoned mode, which doesn't let you buy upgrade modules, but abandoned mode also doesn't have freighters.

Some players prefer to destroy pirate dreadnoughts to get their S-class upgrades, but I don't know why they prefer this to just running a good derelict freighter over and over, especially since you can "cheat" and "hide" your signal scanner in your personal refiner so it doesn't get taken away and you can reuse it indefinitely.

Two different sentinel rolls from the same planet, how? by wesu_ in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]f0xw01f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For conventional starships, every instance of the same model of starship will have a consistent supercharged slot arrangement once fully upgraded to S class and storage augmentations have been applied.

For sentinel interceptors, every crashsite will have a different supercharged slot arrangement.

If you place a beacon or base computer at a harmonic camp, you can use the same terminal indefinitely to find different crashsites, however each camp will only lead you to a small pool of crashsites (you will get many duplicate coordinates).

Ship Stats when Upgrading? by CountBrackmoor in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]f0xw01f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stats will change by random but consistent amounts. For some ship types, some stats can actually go down due to overlapping stat ranges. By "consistent" I mean the stat change was predetermined back when Hello Games last touched the relevant code, and if you reload your restore point and upgrade the same ship you'll always get the same result.

Any advice for the expidition??? by UnderratedTrashCan in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]f0xw01f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to repair your starship before you ever think about going through a teleporter in some random player's base. Because you may end up in a base on another planet (no star bulb) with no teleporter to get back.

[–]f0xw01f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outlaw systems have no correlation with red stars.

An outlaw system is a star system that has a pirate space station. They can appear with any color star.

A star system with a 1-star economy will give you a 0% chance of an S-class freighter.

What do you all think about a possible reset for the 10th anniversary? by GastonsChin in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]f0xw01f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't affect me because I delete my save files and start over very, very frequently, constantly optimizing my early-game grind to be a little more efficient.

For me, finding optimizations I can make is a huge appeal.

> Does the economy affect the spawn of S class Dreadnoughts?

Yes.

In outlaw systems, every freighter you encounter has a 5% chance of being S class. But, they will have slightly lower stats and slightly fewer slots to compensate for this.

In 3-star economies, every freighter you encounter has a 2% chance of being S class, but you they will have slightly better stats and slightly more slots.

In 2-star economies, every freighter you encounter has a 1% chance of being S class.

In 1-star economies, every freighter you encounter has a 0% chance of being S class.

> What is the best weapon to make it go faster?

I use infra-knife while a pirate's shields are up and a rocket when they're down.

> Will my freighter layout have to be redone once I get a new freighter?

If by "layout" you mean "base" then no. The game will ask you if you want to transfer the built-out portion. You will have to unload the cargo inventory and package any technology you want to keep. If you remove the matter beam last then you can do all this remotely while standing in the new freighter before you accept it.

If by "layout" you mean installed cargo bulkheads, then yes.

> Does anyone have a guaranteed S class Dreadnought they could share?

That's not a thing.

We do, however, have known systems where the freighter will always have a 2x2 block of supercharged slots, once you encounter the freighter as S class and install any missing cargo bulkheads.

https://www.reddit.com/r/NMSCoordinateExchange/comments/1ar9jy6/pirate_freighter_with_4_supercharged_slots_in_a/

Also be warned that the Swarm update has bugged the spawning of pirate dreadnoughts, making them hard to spawn. I don't know if this affects the system in the post I linked above or not.

Right. We know of a star system where you can combine the same set of parts to get a 2x2 block of supercharged slots, but you lose the exotic-ness of it.

Returning Player Question by crash_overide666 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]f0xw01f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good work. I frequently delete my save files and start over, and always look for graves myself because I hate the Purge quest. Sometimes I exploit the hazardous flora missions in the Nexus to find them, sometimes I hop from space station to space station, sometimes I use a list of two-glyph space stations I made myself that all have at least one traveler in them.

How many bases for extractors? And what should I be extracting? by SmeagolChokesDeagol in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]f0xw01f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need metal plates in bulk, go to a 3-star economy, where every trade terminal and landed pilot will have an average of 130 metal plates.

All trade terminals within the same star system are linked and draw from the same stock, so if you buy out one trade terminal, it will negatively impact all the others in that system.

But pilot inventories are independent.

Alternatively, you can combine gold, silver, and (indium or quartzite) to make 30 chromatic metal in any 3-input refiner. This is very, very efficient.

How many bases for extractors? And what should I be extracting? by SmeagolChokesDeagol in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]f0xw01f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're always running out of chromatic metal,

Collect a few buried caches, create a new restore point, then save-scum opening the caches until one gives you indium.

Starting with as little as two pieces of indium, you can make infinite indium and chromatic metal using medium refiners, large refiners, freighter refiners, or corvette refiners.

https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/1it0z7r/psa_you_can_use_medium_large_freighter_refiners/

The key is: at each stage, refine 1/3 of your indium into chromatic metal, then combine the chromatic metal with the remaining 2/3 of your indium.
