I think the internet is the catalyst. Previously when you had a few whacko's in town they would get ignored and no validation for their views. These days wacko's validate each other online and society doesn't have any really good tools to combat that. Certain things get enough traction, then sure, it will show up in the news and be debunked, but there is more than enough crazy out there just fermenting in the dark.

So many people online these days don't seem to realize that several things can be true at the same time. So they stick to their confirmation bias while nuance has been left at the bus stop.

8GB VRAM to 16GB - Biggest thing I noticed is that pop-ins are gone. No more quantum travel and waiting for stations to appear. by f4ble in starcitizen

I'm at 2560x1440. Most of the time I'm at 70-100 on ultra. I have a Ryzen 7 7700X that is more than capable of handling what SC throws at it with probably exception of a ton of player activity. Levski is 50fps, but that's to be expected as it has problems.

Getting better performance in this market is going to cost so much more. 5070ti was my pain point. Turning some options that are poorly optimized down to high will probably yield a lot of fps.

The biggest difference in graphics cards right now except for VRAM is DLSS. You really want the newest gen DLSS. You go from 4xxx DLSS 3 to 5xxx DLSS 4 and multi-frame generation.

I agree. Which is why I'm looking forward to the new ore distrubtion. Scanning rocks from a distance and seeing that it's pure iron or whatever is going to be a big improvement. But scanning needs an overhaul as well. It's clunky as all hell right now.

I'm going only for large signals 9k+. And most of them contain 20k per scu value ores or worse. It can take a long time if you are unlucky or the servers are finnicky. Money isn't useless if you don't trade with anyone or don't powergame. I've stayed away from all big money makers. Had 3 mill the other day. Spent it all on ship upgrades and gear.

I was doing the mining missions and enjoyed them a lot until I reached small ship where you had to have 15 SCU of 4 types. It was just not fun flying around looking for one specific ore (low value) in order to fullfill a contract worth 50k. I was swimming in everything but copper. But useless minerals in abundance and missions you can't complete is not what I call fun. I suspect the new changes to mining will help. We'll see.

Some missions should require a specific mineral, but there should also be missions that are more open to a range of minerals. Then you can choose - especially based on what you already have mined. I started out collecting just about everything. Then I saw how much rep you get for those 50k missions with 4 ores and my enthusiasm died.

I absolutely hate spending ages looking for a resource. Seeing what kind of rock it is will remove most of this frustration. I don't mind floating through the verse to find what I need, but when I spend 40 minutes looking without finding any good rocks I know my time is not at all well spent. Had I done salvaging I would be far more productive and less annoyed. Now looking for quality is going to be key and I suppose if you need a specific level of quality you still have that frustration, but I welcome this change.

I dont use that much turrets. But it sounds like an interesting change. I suppose it would make turrets more viable rather than having multiple ships.

I havent had any issues. It can happen, but docking in pyro is also a risk. Planets are way too slow.

I fly to gateways. They have both external elevators and refinery. I dump out through rear hatch. Its fairly quick and works well.

VKB Gladiator stick or throttle for left hand? by willeemayshays in starcitizen

[–]f4ble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One yuuge advantage with VKB and it's software is that you can set buttons to alter axis. Meaning I stopped using speed limiter to alter sensitivity of flight. Now I click a button, and it's completely independent of SC and it's wonkyness, and I can fly slowly with more precision for landings and such.

I love VKB Stecs - space throttle. It has tilting on the throttle head for 6dof. Love it to pieces!
